Merchant Rooms & Apartments — Hotel in Prague

Great location on the Main Street off of the Charles Bridge||||Street facing rooms very loud ; rooms facing the courtyard much better. We stayed in both front and courtyard rooms. ||||Pillows : are horrible....I have never felt a pillow like that in my many years of travelling.I don't even know how to explain what was in them. Felt like pieces of cotton from a stuffed animal. Cheaping out on pillows it not how you save money, when really its the most important part of getting a comfortable sleep. This seemed to be how they pillows were in all rooms. ||||TV: don't work very well, you may enjoy 5 - 10 minutes of working television and then you will lose the signal. Happened in both rooms.||||Beds are very soft, I enjoyed the comfort of the bed, my husband did not. It all depends on your preference.||||Manager of hotel ( Dilya) - Extremely rude woman and very unprofessional. In trying to rectify a problem with the deposit the receptionist at the hotel called the hotel manager and she was not helpful at all, she was very rude and unprofessional. Next time we will be staying somewhere else. Up until our checkout and being spoken to so rudely by the manager on the phone we were going to forgive some of the downfalls to this hotel and give a great review, however the manager insulted us, spoke rudely and left us feeling very angry. They were not able to return our deposit as their machine was faulty and wanted us to write down our credit card info so that they try at a later time. We did not feel comfortable with that and asked that they keep the deposit that they charged our credit card and just give it back to us in cash. I understand things happen that are out of their control, perhaps this was a problem with their machine ( I don't know, I still not get an answer as to why they could not do the return) But when things happen like this then the hotel should try to accommodate the guest the best way they can. We had a train to catch and asked them to provide our refund back in cash so that we could do catch our bus to the train station so that we would not miss our train out of Prague. Again, Manager on phone very unprofessional and extremely rude and insulting. ||||Cleaning staff : very polite and friendly. ||||Front door to hotel : you have to buzz the office / reception room to initially get in. Once checked in they provide you with a card to get into the building...but there really is no need and the front door to the building was always left ajar and open. This did not make me feel very safe that anyone can walk into the building and to the rooms without even having to go past the reception area. I told reception however it was still broken...

I can say one positive thing about this hotel, they are quick at responding to emails. Due to the COVID19 situation I never got to travel to Prague and stay at this hotel. My review is based on how the hotel has handled my cancellation. First of all, when I booked the hotel the booking conditions were very clear; there would be no prepayment and my card would be charged upon arrival. Yet, they charged my card straight away and when I made them aware of it they blamed it on a technical error. I asked to have the money transferred back. However, they did not offer to do so, instead they offered a 5% discount. I was not satisfied with that as the COVID19 situation was escalating and it seemed unlikely that the trip would happen. When I cancelled the room it took quite some time before I had any money refunded. I had to send them several messages. When the money was refunded the exchange rate was different and I ended up receiving less money in my local currency than was deducted in the first place (but the same amount in their local currency). Considering they should never have charged my card in the first place they should use the same exchange rate when reimbursing as when charging. They refused to do so and instead put the responsibility upon my credit card provider. In other words, they break the booking conditions and expect someone else to be financially responsible for that. Based on this I will not book a room at this hotel when I do go to...

По большому счету отелем остались очень довольны, за исключением немногочисленных минусов. Самый главный плюс отеля - его местоположение, в центре туристической Праги. Это удобно для любителей весь день бродить по старому городу, сидеть допоздна в местных пивницах и загадывать желания на Карловом мосту по несколько раз в день без очереди)) В то же время и городской транспорт рядом: остановка трамваев - через дорогу, станция метро - в одной трамвайной остановке. Для тех, кто не владеет иностранными языками, будет важно, что в отеле работает русскоязычный персонал. За всё время пребывания в отеле сталкивались исключительно с их вежливым и культурным обслуживанием. Спасибо всем сотрудникам! Отель расположен в жилом доме, основная часть номеров - на втором этаже. Есть лифт. Рецепшн работает круглосуточно. Комнаты для завтраков больше нет. Завтраки подаются в номер по выбранному накануне меню и в назначенное время. Для нас это было плюсом, а не минусом. Никаких претензий по обслуживанию и по меню нет: всё отлично! Хотя, рыбу и шампанское надо бы из него исключить, раз их больше не подают))) Окна номеров могут выходить на многолюдную улицу или во двор, общий для отеля и Макдональдса, находящегося в этом же доме (нам одну ночь он подпортил...) Выбирайте сами. Нюансы могут быть, естественно, при любом выборе, как, впрочем, и везде... В холодное время года топят хорошо, в номерах тепло. Есть регулятор на батареях. В отеле нет кондеев. Это историческое здание, и портить фасад нельзя. В теплое время года выдают вентиляторы. Пожелание для руководства отеля - кроме плотных, ночных, штор хочется иметь в номере тюль (или жалюзи). Жить в номере, выходящем окнами в окна другого отеля или с дверью на террасу вместо окна, без дневных штор не комфортно. Есть претензии к ванне, а вернее - к её статической стеклянной перегородке. Ванна не настолько длинная, чтобы пользоваться ею без затруднений. Выходить и заходить приходится в той её части, где она имеет скос, можно здорово навернуться((( Лучше бы была просто занавеска. И, конечно, немного не хватало отделения в шкафу с полками (шкаф для одежды на плечиках есть). Приходилось хранить все вещи в чемоданах, а при небольшом метраже номера удобства в этом никакого. Немного не поняли, по какому признаку выделяется улучшенный номер... отличий от простого не нашли... хотя стоит он дороже. Пожалуй, это все минусы, с которыми мы столкнулись. Всё остальное в описании и фото отеля соответствует действительности: большая удобная кровать, приличное бельё, халаты, тапочки, хорошая сантехника, набор косметических принадлежностей, которые не забывали пополнять, много розеток и много света, хороший бесплатный Wi-Fi, ТВ (мы не смотрели), платный минибар, удобное кресло для вечернего отдыха, стол, чайник с бесплатными порционными чаем, кофе, сливками, сахаром, бесплатная бутылка минеральной воды... За время своего отдыха в любимой Праге ни разу не пожалели о своём выборе. Спасибо, Merchant's Avenue! Будем рекомендовать вас...
