In the booking reservation I asked to get a double bed but got a single bed. I can understand that double beds are maybe booked already but the size of this single bed was really ridiculous. I pushed it to the wall to stop falling from it. So I also pushed the carpet that was under the bed. Under the carpet, the floor was sticky. The coffee machine option is a great add-on but the water boiler was dirty, I tried to clean it. You get no soap and no sponge but a little sink with a trash bin and glasses. So the cleaning isn't something you have to take responsibility for. But how then can the boiler be that greasy (how can a water boiler be greasy). I wonder. Others, the soap smells good and I really liked the design of the room. But it wasn't calm. Neighbors where loud even if this is not the fault of the hotel, it's part of the comfort. Also, 3 curtains but one small window? And I noted that on the small kitchen furniture the doors open from the right side but the mini fridge inside is next to the wall and the fridge door opens from the left side, what makes the access really difficult. For the breakfast I think that the breakfast area is really beautiful. The options are great: ham and cheese and fruits , tomatoes and cucumbers, eggs, sausage, juice, tea, milk and soja milk, many types of cakes and glutenous bread, grapes. But I'm celiac and said it way before to the staff so that they could organise my stay. I saw they had rice crisps for me (instead of bread). But what they didn't get is that gluten is everywhere and cross contamination can happen if glutenous food is prepared on the same place non glutenous food is prepared. Also, processed food is something I can't eat. So no sausage, most of hams either. Bread no, cakes no, plated cheese no. What is left to eat? Rice crisps, eggs, grapes, tomatoes not as I'm allergic, cucumber. Not transcendent. I'm sad that people still don't understand that gluten allergy is a real illness and not a fancy trip. It also makes us sensitive to other food types, we even develop other intolerances. Not to mention that we suffer from cross contamination. Sensitive and dysfunctional digestive system. Also I would like to note that the staff will care about you as long as you are more than one person. A family was sitting in the breakfast area and they got great coffees (I heard they did even not ask for), which is funny because I asked for one I never got. But I was sitting alone so I guess I'm not interesting. All few people sitting alone didn't get their coffee, others did. Interesting coffee politics. Coming to the price 2800 CZK. Actually it's about 1€ for 26czk so it makes it to 107€ for one night with a joke of breakfast if you are celiac. It's expensive. You can get way less expensive rooms in Prague who offer a similar experience but at least you pay half of the price or even less. I wanted to try this hotel this time because of his high rankings so I did expect...

We stayed at Miss Sophie's Downtown in Prague for 7 nights. The room was not clean, it was full of dust. Literally, a thick layer of dust everywhere, and since both of us staying in the hotel are allergic we could not stop sneezing it was horribly uncomfortable. I asked the manager to please have the cleaning team clean our room from the dust. He apologized, said that it's definitely not acceptable and he'll have the team clean it right away. When we came back to our room later that day NOTHING was cleaned. All they did was empty the trash bag. I even drew a smiley face in the dust to see if they would notice and clean it, of course, it was still there when we came back to the room. I end up cleaning the dust myself.
The sheets weren't changed once throughout our 7-night stay, I knew this for sure since the black stains on the sheet were there the whole time. The towels we received had other people's hair in them.
If you enjoy showering with hot water in the evening, don't stay here. I did not have hot water in the evening. I spoke with the manager, he promised that the hotel has a central heating system and that the only reason I had no hot water is that they are fully booked and everyone probably showered at the same time. He explained that if this happens I should wait 15-20 minutes and the hot water will come back. The next night I tried this, waited for even 45 minutes-hour and still no hot water, it actually went from lukewarm to freezing. At this point, I realized they just don't have hot water 24/7 like any respectable hotel. From that day forward I had to shower only in the morning.
Needless to say, we were extremely disappointed in the hotel and will not be recommending...
Read moreI stayed at Hotel Sophie Downtown in Prague, Czech Republic, and while the room itself was decent , clean and reasonably located, the check-in process was an absolute nightmare that soured the entire experience.||||Compared to my stays in 34 other countries, this hotel's policies were ridiculously over-the-top and invasive. They didn't just ask for my passport (which is normal) but demanded a visa copy and forced me to hand over my work permit as well. Then, when my wife arrived an hour later on a separate flight, they refused to give me a second key upfront, insisting she drag herself to the front desk jet-lagged and all to present her own passport and work permit. Who does that? It's not like we're criminals; we're a married couple on vacation!||||The staff were polite enough, but that's no excuse for these draconian rules that treat guests like suspects. Sure, Czech law (Act No. 326/1999 Coll.) requires registering non-EU foreigners like us from India, including passports and visas/work permits for police reporting. But demanding documents from both husband and wife separately, withholding a second key, and forcing an in-person appearance? That's not mandated by any law. it's just the hotel's absurd internal policy, probably under the guise of "security." I've never seen anything this paranoid and inconvenient in hotels worldwide, and it's especially frustrating for non-EU travelers who already deal with enough bureaucracy.||||Just to note , we are a well travelled couple and speaking from my experience of 34 countries we have...
