Our experience at Sumo was phenomenal. The owners were incredibly kind and spoke fluent or near fluent English, mandarin, and French. Communication was not a worry when it came to ordering. The menu consisted of a vast array of Japanese and Chinese options, ranging from sushi and ramen to dumplings. We got the avocado & shrimp sushi. The sushi was very fresh and tasted great. At the back of the restaurant, there was a piano that the owners let us try and a stringless electric guitar. But when we were seated we did not get any explanation whatsoever, they just dropped some papers off at our tables and walked away. Eventually I went to ask how they expected us to order, and after we did, it wasn’t very clear how to communicate that we were done, as the workers were not in our side of the restaurant at all.
The food was good, but the maki was pretty huge and slightly uncomfortable to eat.
Overall still worth the money, but the uncertainty was very unpleasant and stressful.

The restaurant was very clean and was set out very nicely with pretty decor and a door open onto the street for circulation so it wasn't stuffy. The food was lovely and my mother (even with her gluten intolerance) was able to have ample choice on the menu. The price was very good and we were shocked by how low the total came to for such a filling meal. Already recommended to friends and will continue...
