This hotel was a special find for me and my husband, we only spent a night but we were pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness and comfort of the bedroom. The location is great and would definitely recommend.
Having said that, I wouldn’t recommend paying extra for the breakfast. We didn’t originally book with breakfast and paid for it in advance in our check in but it was very disappointing. You get much better and fresher options for €18 a person from any other bakery around. I did mention to reception that the fact we had to ORDER the hot drinks to someone was silly and really didn’t give us many options of choosing how I want my coffee in the morning, there was only one person working in breakfast and she had to do all the top ups and take hot drink orders and then go into the kitchen and get it from a machine (which we could do ourselves). The guy at reception was very kind when I mentioned this and he said one of the reasons is that people break the machine if they leave it outside and french people like “to be served/ serve others”. Sorry but one of the reasons I choose a hotel is for the breakfast and this hotel wouldn’t be a go back for me because of that. Also we were in France, there were no fresh cheese, only packaged processed, no pain au chocolat, not many options of bread or pastries, big disappointment.
In addition, the night receptionist was super friendly and helpful! Would be nice to see them implementing some upgrades to breakfast so we could give this hotel...
Read moreIn my experience, many Americans complain about a lack of hospitality in France due to different cultural expectations. That said, I would say that this hotel is truly lacking in customer service. The hotel is behind a sliding door that a staff member needs to unlock and open for you (great for safety!) but the door is not always manned, and I had to wait several minutes on multiple occasions to enter the hotel, which feels especially inconvenient in wintry conditions and uncomfortable at night. I paid the city tax with an American Express card upon my arrival (after explicitly asking if the hotel accepted American Express), and was told upon checking out that the hotel has never accepted Amex and that my payment hadn’t gone through (the payment did go through, and I ended up getting my money back, but the way I was treated through this exchange was extremely condescending). I visited this hotel around the New Year’s Holiday for its proximity to the Champs-Élysees. While it was extremely convenient to the festivities, the access to the hotel was completely blocked off from 4-7pm on NYE. This blockage was in no way the fault of the hotel, being due to local police precautions, but when we inquired at the hotel after the fact, they indicated that it was normal every year. We were not given any formal or even informal notice/heads up when we checked in that there would be such an issue accessing the hotel. The hotel rooms were small but clean and housekeeping services kept the room...
Read moreWe stayed here for five nights in mid September, and unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing.
The only real advantage of this hotel is its proximity to the metro station. Everything else left much to be desired. The rooms are small (which is expected in big cities) but also outdated and worn. We skipped breakfast at the hotel.
Despite requesting a quiet room in advance, our first room was placed directly opposite the elevator. Due to the poor acoustics, we could hear every guest passing by, waiting for the lift, or using the stairs. The safe in the room was also broken, and there was no maintenance staff available. None of the issues we reported were ever resolved.
The following day we were moved to another room, but the window did not close properly. Since it faced the main street, we had to endure shouting, laughter, music, and traffic noise all night long. Reception acknowledged the problem but could not offer another room until two days later, when we were finally transferred to a triple room. The soundproofing was still poor, but at least the noise was limited to the neighbors’ showers rather than the street outside.
Reception staff changed frequently. They were professional and tried to help, but they were not particularly welcoming.
Overall, this was not a pleasant stay, and we...
