Hostal La Terraza — Hotel in Flores

Pros: The kitchen was ok regarding the equipment and the location of the hostel is good.

Cons: No hot shower, rooms are equipped only with tiny lockers and when we asked for bigger ones which were in the common room we were told that we can get only one because we are a couple and we are there together. We also stayed in a rooms for 4 and 8 people but in both of them there was one extra bed (you can feel the difference in space especially in the room for 4). To be fair to other hostels this place could be a bit cleaner too.

To sum up - definitely not the greatest hostel but it is doable if you want to save up some money

We had a bit unplesant experience with the stuff at the end. After we had left the hostel we realized we had forgotten there our socket adapter. We texted them right away when we realized it, described how it looked and where it was left. They replied they found it and even sent us a photo of it. We were happy because we were planning to return to Flores in a few days so we could pick it up. But after we arrived they told us that one of the guests said it was hers so they gave it to her. I understand the stuff was in a bad situation because it was word of the thief against our word (although we correctly described where we left it and how it looked and we could send them a copy from the shop etc.). Nevertheless I think they could at least let us know and not surprise us after we returned after 5 days...

I stayed in the 4person dorm (en-suite was a plus!!) I was worried about jumping back into dorm life after a fair few years not traveling but I found this place to be a treasure. I extended my stay multiple times. Simple rooftop with an interesting perspective on the island. Comfy beds with air con at night. Windows of the room face the reception/hangout area so it’s fairly noisy in this room until ab 10pm when they turn off the music and generally everyone soon departs. I’m pretty sensitive with my sleep and I’ve felt rested here with my sleep mask and earplugs no problem. I hope you give this place a shot, the staff was so so helpful and even do your laundry on site for a very reasonable price. They got a 2nd place in Flores that is new, we stayed there but wouldn’t recommend it. I think the original place is better, im not rating that one just the “new” building. We had water leaking in our room after showering. The cleaning gear for the dishes is poor. There is no airco and the fan makes a lot of noise so we opened the window in the room.
