A lack of hot water and AC and sweltering temperatures can be overcome if a hotel has good service. This place had none of the above.
I have traveled everywhere in Guatemala for 5 months from Livingston to Monterico. This was the dirtiest, least hospitable place I've stayed.
This hotel was chosen by my Antigua tour agency. There was no one at the hotel to receive us when we arrived off the shuttle at 6 AM. When I texted the phone number on the door they said they would send someone to open the door for us. Although they should've known we were coming. They had us wait outside for two hours before someone came.
Fortunately, the hotel next-door allowed us to use their bathrooms, fed us breakfast, and gave us a place out of the sun to wait.
-Tons of ants & flying bugs A non-functioning window (which is terrible in a hotel that doesn't have air-conditioning) Constantly dripping cold shower with standing water.
Then, the hotel tried to charge me an extra night stay because our belongings were left in the room until 2pm, after check out time. However, when we left to go to Tikal national park at 4 AM, there was no receptionist to check out with. It's not like they needed our room to clean for other guest anyway, we were the only guest in the hotel for two days. Good try, trying to swindle us.
This hotel acts like it doesn't even want to guest. It operates as if they are not professionals and a tourist or hospitality industry.
I was ready to get a room elsewhere from the beginning. Had I not already pre-paid with the travel agency I would have left this hotel the moment they didn't answer the door when we arrived.
We will not be using this hotel again, and I will discourage everyone I know from using this hotel. I actually wish I could buy it so I could fix all the problems wrong with it. The only redeeming quality is the location right off the bridge when you...

Read moreGreat location of the hotel, on the main street, by the lake, right at the entrance to the Santa Elena dike. A kind receptionist, drinking water is available at the reception.||We stay at the Natz hotel 3 nights, the room is quite large, clean, with a fan, the bathroom is ok, there are white towels. They don't clean the room every day.||Then we sleep one more night when we come back from El Mirador and we get a worse room for the same price as before. The room is small, the bathroom is small, the previous room was much better. ||It's hot as hell, the fan runs like crazy, but it can't grind the heat-heavy air. We take another cold shower, but it doesn't do much, as the temperature at...
