My recent stay at the Mear Hotel in Budapest was an unforgettable experience that seamlessly blended comfort with a touch of elegance, making it a highlight of my travels in Hungary.
From the moment I stepped into the hotel, I was greeted with warm hospitality that is characteristic of Budapest's renowned charm. The staff at Mear Hotel went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was comfortable, offering insightful recommendations for exploring the city and always greeting me with a smile.
The hotel itself boasts a fantastic location, nestled in the heart of Budapest, making it an ideal base for exploring the city's rich history and vibrant culture. The stunning architecture of the hotel, with its contemporary design infused with traditional Hungarian elements, adds to the overall charm of the experience.
My room was a true delight - spacious, impeccably clean, and elegantly furnished. One single downside was the bathroom's ventilation , rest was perfect.
The breakfast buffet offered good selection items.
One of the hotel's unique features is its rooftop terrace, which provides breathtaking views of Budapest's skyline. It's the perfect spot to unwind and soak in the beauty of the city, especially during sunset.
Furthermore, the hotel's commitment to providing exceptional service was evident in every aspect. Whether it was the meticulous housekeeping, the efficient check-in and check-out process, or the helpful concierge service, every detail was taken care of with utmost professionalism.
In conclusion, my stay at Mear Hotel was nothing short of spectacular. It stands out not only for its luxurious accommodations and prime location but also for the heartfelt hospitality that embodies the spirit of Budapest. I would highly recommend Mear Hotel to anyone visiting this beautiful city, whether for business or leisure. It's a place where memories are made and the essence of Hungarian hospitality...
Read moreAn incredible place to stay. I can’t thank the reception staff enough for the lovely bottle of champagne and hand-written note for my husband’s bday; the spot-on list of food and drink recs; and the warm greetings every time we entered and left. Honestly almost everything about this hotel is fantastic: the wonderful smell of the hotel lobby upon entrance; the sleek and stylish interior design and colour scheme, from the lobby to the bedrooms and halls; the central location; the large room and fantastic DOUBLE-GLAZED windows (I was concerned at first on having a room facing the street (room 109) as I’m sensitive to noise but the windows blocked any traffic noise so well); the ample breakfast options with kind staff serving. The hotel itself is also very quiet and we never heard other guests. The welcome drink of a glass of delicious dry, white Hungarian wine is lovely too.
Honestly I could wax on and on about this place. The only minor caveats we had were: the room was REALLY warm, almost like a sauna, despite us turning off the thermostat. We got used to it after the first night, and it felt good to enter after being cold outside. Unfortunately there are no top sheets on the bed, only duvets, which meant we didn’t sleep well the first night, being alternately hot and cold. Our sleep was hit and miss the rest of the time. And finally there doesn’t seem to be recycling and small toiletries offered are not environmentally-friendly (save for the shower gel).
I would absolutely stay here again with my husband. Solo, it’s a bit too pricey but great for a couple.
Also want to give a shout-out for the rec for the gorgeous V30 gym a four-minute walk away. I had three sessions there and recommend...
Read moreTl;dr : A modern hotel with cosy rooms, friendly and attentive staff, a good breakfast and in a fantastic location!
The hotel is situated only a 5 minute walk away from St. Stephen’s basilica and 20 minutes from the Danube river. It’s near several public transport links including the M3 metro line which is convenient for getting to and from the airport, with only one change required.
Walking into the hotel, you’re greeted by front desk staff who are friendly and know how to put their guests first. We arrived quite early for check in but were delighted to be taken to our room after a short wait, rather than being asked to come back later as some other places would do.
The room itself was excellent. It felt modern yet cosy, with a comfortable bed and was completely spotless. There was ample space to put our luggage, a safe to store our valuables and a complimentary tea and coffee machine as well as a mini bar.
If I had one gripe with the room, it’s that it didn’t have USB charging ports, but that’s a very minor issue imo.
The breakfast itself is also decent with a good variety of coffees, teas, and juices to drink, as well as a good selection of pastries, breads, cheeses and some (non-halal) cold meats. They also had a selection of eggs and I’m sure you could ask the attentive staff if you wanted it prepared a certain way.
Overall, Mera hotel exceeded expectations. If I’m ever in Budapest again, this will be my first choice of...
