I returned to Bisma Cottages for my third stay this April, and my time staying at these gorgeous boutique - and eco - cottages was (yet again) nothing short of perfect.
As a solo female traveller I always feel SO safe staying at Bisma Cottages. The location is ideal: Jalan Bisma is my favourite street in all of Ubud, with the best spas, cafes, restaurants and conveniences like eco laundry and mini-marts all just minutes away. The street is cheerful and SAFE, with friendly locals smiling at you and the local establishments remembering you when you return for a second, third, and fourth time.
The staff at Bisma Cottages are just the kindest and bestest bunch you’ll ever meet. Matur Suksma to Kadek, Made, Edo and Gusti for always being so cheerful, helpful, and kind to me. They looked after me like family, I’ll never forget you all 🙏
I booked some tours through Bisma Cottages as I do every year, and as usual my experience at Tirta Empul with Darma was a highlight of my time at BC. Darma is so knowledgeable, patient and charming - the best guide in all of Ubud. When visiting sacred Balinese sites it is of the utmost importance to have a proper guide, to ensure you are respectful at all times and not making any mistakes with how you behave, what you wear, and what you need to do. Thank you Darma for a really blessed day 🙏
I also booked a healing reflexology treatment with Edo - my first time ever having reflexology - and wow, it blew my mind. If you’re on the fence about trying a healing treatment while in Bali, Bisma Cottages have the best practitioners available to book and treat you, in your room or even by the pool! This was my second healing treatment facilitated by Bisma Cottages (in 2022 I thoroughly loved an extra-special treatment from Darma), and I can say hand on heart I have never had better. In Bali, or anywhere else in the world for that matter.
BC’s owner Kelly is a wonderful woman, a real fountain of knowledge on all things Ubud and Bali. She helped me out with any questions I had, any recommendations I needed. Thank you so much Kelly, you’re the best.
The BC accommodation is excellent too. I stayed in the Deluxe Cottage and really enjoyed the rice field view from my bathroom, so so beautiful. The beds are big and comfy, the linen is soft, the pillows are dreamy: everything is well appointed, works perfectly and is thoughtfully designed.
The swimming pool is just delicious, a special spot to not just swim and sunbathe, but also for some sunrise yoga practice and sunset meditations.
Bisma Cottages is a true gem. I already can’t wait to return!
If you’re thinking of booking Bisma Cottages, DO IT. I promise you will not...
Read moreI stayed at Bisma Cottages for a month and it was the best decision I have made during my entire trip to Bali. The place was quiet and extremely clean, affordable, and also in the center of Ubud. You have the best of triple worlds!
First, I want to talk about the staff. Kadek, Darma, and Kelly just made this experience 10 times better. Kadek helped me with any issue I had. He always had a smile and a solution. He would greet me every time he saw me and ask if everything was okay with my stay. How nice is it to have that? I felt like I was being treated like a queen!
I rented a motorbike woth no prior knowledge on how to ride one. With the Ubud traffic, I was so scared to learn to drive one. But Darma, the tour guide, gave me lessons! Not only did he give me lessons, but he made the trip even better by taking me to a secret waterfall! He made these lessons fun and made me feel more comfortable about getting on the bike.
I also want to talk about Kelly. She was amazing. She was always in contact with me in a matter of 5 minutes. She let me know of all the events happening in Ubud. I also left my credit card in an ATM ( :( ) and Kelly was my guardian angel. I would send her money and she deposited it for me, like what?? She is AMAZING!! She was the only reson I was able to survive and continue my trip stress free.
The staff was amazing and I could not ask for better. After I left Bisma cottages, I was still in contact with all of them and even visited a few times. I love Bisma Cottages
Read moreI read about Bisma Cottages in The Solo Girl's Travel Guide so I checked it out when I was in Bali. Initially I booked the cottage for a month but ended up staying for two. Why? The location is perfect! Everything you could possible need is on Jalan Bisma--restaurants, shops, convenient stores, laundry, spas, etc., without having to venture far if you don't feel like it. It feels like it's a little out of the way but it's only short walk to Monkey Forest Road via a short cut, which takes you to many shops and restaurants and the center of Ubud.
The cottage itself is close to a dead end so it's very quiet. Once you enter its compound it's very secluded. Hardly hear a motorcycle or car. In the two months I was there, I never encountered a disrespectful guest--none of the partying, late night, noisy type. That suited me really well as I wasn't into all that. Plus I was working so I needed the peace and quiet!
I got to know the staff--Kadek, Gusti, and Made--really well. After a few days of staying there, they stared asking me where I was going whenever they saw me leaving. At first it irked me. You know the whole independent solo woman traveller thing. But once I realized that somebody ought to know where I'm going and the fact that they cared enough to ask I started volunteering my whereabouts to them. They made me feel safe. I also saw the owner, Kelly, daily as she lives there and we often chatted. She once heard me coughing and came down to check on me! You would not get this kind of personal service anywhere else!
What else? The whole place is clean including the room, the pool is refreshing on hot days, the bed and pillows perfect, the sheets so crisp, lots of storage space, refrigerator in the room was god sent, loved the balcony which became my living room . . . I liked everything about it but if Kelly were to ask me what to improve I'd say add more lighting please and only because I worked late into the night and I'm blind as a bat!
I will definitely stay at Bisma Cottages again but I'd book the deluxe cottage from the get-go if I'm staying as long as I did. It is larger, has a kitchenette, and more...
