Stayed here in August with my wife for two nights. ||||The Good:||- location of the actual property is near the bottom of the hill, which means you just have to walk through the long tunnel from the train station and the property is a short two-minute walk when exiting the pedestrian tunnel.||- clean and spotless||- air conditioning! I read some reviews that mentioned no air conditioning, so I was very happy to find out that our room had a unit||- recently updated - it looks like the owners did some recent work to make the rooms more attractive and we were pleased with our stay. This isn't a run down or an after-thought room||- breakfast includes fresh fruits, juice, coffee, cereal, assorted pastries and jams||- easy to "check in" early to just drop off your bags for storage and go exploring, or to check out and leave your bags for the day and pick them up later||||The Bad:||- Okay, while the actual property is very near the bottom of the hill, you actually have to walk up the hill for 7-10 minutes (depending on how much stuff you have!) to check in. You see, the address you are provided is actually the office for a property management business -- they take care of a handful of accommodations. So once you are checked in, then you'll have to return down the hill. Not so easy with a lot of bags.||- Breakfast is also located up this hill -- not a huge negative, just something to be aware of||- Our room was up some pretty steep steps! And most of the time is was very dark so we had to use the flashlight feature on our smartphones||- Check out is kinda early -- 10:30am if I remember correctly. But again, the nice thing is that you can leave your bags at the office for the day if you want to continue exploring the town.||- No WiFi ... just in the lobby area of the office (which again is up the hill!)||||The Bottom Line:||We read some less-than enthusiastic reviews so we were prepared for disappointment. However, our stay was fantastic with a great location, very nice room, basic but filling breakfast and competitive rates during an in-demand time period. We would definitely stay here again if presented the opportunity, this was an...
Read moreWe booked this place last minute and it was fine for that reason. Location and low cost was more important to us than staying somewhere fancy, so we made do! That being said, location is amazing! It only takes a few minutes to walk to the train and it's all beautiful views. Everything in Cinque Terre is hills and stairs, so keep that in mind. There are many great restaurants and bars all around that are open late, but it is still quiet. Riomaggiore doesn't have the best beach, so if that's important to you check elsewhere, or just get used to the short train ride! The room itself was clean and spacious but dimly lit and had little closet space. The bathroom was the worst part in my opinion as we had to share with another room and it would get dirty very quickly. However, cleaning service is available every day. The breakfast is average (hot coffee and pastries), it's in a dark room near reception so some days we preferred to buy elsewhere so we could sit outside. Wifi only available while standing outside reception. Staff was friendly and helpful! If we went back, we would look to stay elsewhere but would stay here if it was the...
Read moreStaff was quite helpful and accomodating (including keeping our luggage the whole day after we checked out).. Languages: part of the staff were native english speakers (one was also fluent in French), others spoke english well enough. AC: worked perfectly. bathroom: small bathroom, shower with small hanging curtain that gets the floor wet, but functional. wifi: for us it was poor but I'm sure it depends on location. I was told all rooms had wifi reception but ours only had marginal signal on the patio only (not in the room). We got a free 4H limited use pass. Breakfast: good breakfast, and really good blood orange, as well as good coffee. Location: a bit uphill, but walkable to train station. Note that the nearby church's bells will wake you up at 07:00, so go to bed early :) Elevator: as you probably know, elevators are not the norm. You'll have to be prepared to take your luggage up a lot of stairs. Their staff nicely helped us...
