First of all, this is not a hotel. In the e-mail confirmation they sent me, the signature says clearly Down Town Boutique Hotel. IT IS NOT.||||They will insist in knowing the time of your arrival, so the one person that works at the front desk will wait for you and help you with the bags. BUT, if you need any assistance after 5PM, no one will be there to help you. One day I arrived at the hotel after 5PM with heavy shopping bags, and had no one to help me to open the doors or climb the first flight of stairs. You need a code to enter the building after hours.||||They will handle you a sheet with phone numbers to call in case you need assistance after the person leaves for the day. In my case, I had no international phone service and could not call the number easily.||I had dinner plans one night and needed a cab, and had to walk to a real hotel next door (Daniel's) to get help from the front desk person, who kindly called me a car.||||The room was ok, but the bathroom was dark and REALLY dirty. The amenities were left on a tray that was covered in dust, and the shower was really dirty as well.||||The smart TV never worked. When, at the time of reservation, I asked if breakfast would be included, they said yes. But the breakfast is actually a tray of dry food that is left at your room the night before.||||I was by myself for the first three nights and felt very uncomfortable. When my husband arrived, we decided to check out of and had to go to an actual hotel. ||The manager refused to refund us the amount referent to the remainder of the days (the rates are not super cheap, btw).||||It was a frustrating experience on my first days in Rome. It is far from being anything boutique.||||PS.: This is my first negative review here, and I thought really hard before writing it. But I thought that it was really rude of them not refunding us when we decided to leave after all the...
Read moreThe start of our stay was terrible. We tried calling the staff on several numbers, both before we went there and when we landed in Rome. Nobody answered. When we got there, we saw two rooms that had a key in the door. We had no idea of which room to pick and there were nobody in the reception or answering the phone. We ended up choosing one of the rooms, and the room itself was nice and clean. |The door into the hotel closed after 19:30, and we didn’t get any code. Therefore we had to ring all the bells and talked with a family that had to open the door for us. |Some days later, they answered us on the phone and told us the code (he said the wrong one on the first call, but when we called him again, he told us the right one). However, when we started asking him about the cold water in the shower, he hung up. The water miraculously was warm the day after and the rest of our stay. |Nobody washed our room, and we didn’t get any information about how we could get them to do it (no sign to hang outside the door or anything else). |Therefore the garbage was full, and we didn’t get any new toilet paper or clean towels. |The bed was hard, the sheets were very weird and the curtain didn’t work. |You could also hear the other rooms and the things happening outside on the street very well. |However, there were also some positive aspects with this hotel. The location was literally amazing. It was in the heart of Rome, and you could walk to every attraction. It the area there were great shopping, grocery stores, tourist attractions, restaurant, etc. |It was also nice priced. |If the hotel fix their issues with service and makes it easier to check in, this would definitely have been a 4/5 or 5/5 hotel. Sadly, this is not the reality, and I would not recommend to stay...
Read moreWe‘ve been staying here for three nights and wanted to discover Rome. Let’s start with the positive parts: prime location in the city center & the furnishings shouldn’t be older than 5-10 years.
Unfortunately the list of negative experiences will be a bit more extensive… I would strongly recommend to bring cleaning things as both the bathroom (mirrors, whole shower, basin) and sleeping area (floor and shelfs) have not seen thorough cleaning efforts. As Rome is located in Italy (and people are coming here for enjoying the lovely culture, people and countryside) it’s quite obvious that during September, days might be warmer than the nights. As human beings tend to require air for living, opening windows during the night is a common procedure. This might cause the room temperature to drop. In case you want to prevent being cold at night and having restorative sleep, a promising technique is the use of blankets being thicker than a piece of paper. Unfortunately the staff was neither able nor willing to provide us with some of the afore mentioned. In general the staff (I have problems with using the term „hotel staff“ as this location is definitely none to be called „hotel“) was reacting quite inappropriate to criticism and unwilling to change things for the better even though mentioned several times. In addition to that, most of the time you need to call someone first, because nobody is around at the „reception“ and many features of actual hotels were not available either.
Long story short: spend your money somewhere else...
