Booking online I thought Quality in Rome was a hotel. However, as we found out, it was not exactly a hotel but more of a rented room, with 7 rooms available for guests to book. Not that this is exactly a bad thing, but I was just expecting something else when I thought it was a “hotel”. It did not have on-call wait or service staff, nor a dedicated concierge or front desk staff. Basically, the only times we saw people there were when the owner met us at check-in and gave us the room and apartment building keys, and then when the cleaning lady was there to fix our room as we “checked-out” and merely left our room and apartment keys on top of the unmanned front desk. Be that as it may, as lodgings go, Quality in Rome is a good option to stay at as long as you aren’t expecting a full service hotel. With Quality in Rome, you get a very clean, comfortably-sized, almost brand new room, in a good location of the city, which is in between the busy, tourist areas around the Trevi Fountain and the area around the Roman Colloseum, a decent breakfast packaged with it, and for a fair price. A bonus was that the property is just next to Bibbo, a bag drop service. We availed of this service since we arrived too early in the day for check-in time at Quality in Rome but wanted to already explore Rome. We just came back later in the early afternoon to claim our bags back and then check-in to Quality in Rome. One final note, when making your booking on-line, note that their age cutoff for "children" is 6 years old, and not 11 years old which is the usual age in most hotels around the world. We made this mistake when making our booking with our 10 year old daughter and had to pay much more to have an extra bed added...
Read moreI had been in contact with the property prior to arrival and they arranged a taxi for us from the airport - this worked really well as we arrived around 8pm and I didn't want to have to work out trains etc I just wanted to get to Rome and go out! ||||This is a small place, more like a guesthouse than a hotel, so like a lot of buildings in similar cities it has a shared front door. You take the lift to the 2nd floor. We were greeted on arrival by a lady who kept saying her English wasn't great, but it was more than enough to get us checked in with all the info we needed - and she pointed us in the right direction for food and drink. There is no 24 hour reception (as is made clear in the booking info). We never saw anyone apart from the cleaner during our stay until our last day but you do get an emergency contact number when you arrive. ||||Our double room was spacious, with good air conditioning (it was 30 degrees outside) and the bathroom was a good size with towels and toiletries. We didn't use the tv so not sure if there were any english language channels. There was also a fridge in our room which was handy. ||||Breakfast was provided via a voucher that you used in Diaderma around the corner, this got us a cappuchino and a pastry which gave us a sugar and caffeine hit to keep us going. ||||The location is brilliant - the walk to the colosseum couldn't be easier (about 15 mins) and there are some nice restaurants nearby. ||||We did have a minor issue on the last evening of our stay - but a quick call to the number provided and all was sorted - thank you Massimo!||||I would definitely recommend and would...
Read moreParent& luggage&a10-month baby were denied check-in in the pouring rain. The owner closed the door and asked us to contact Expedia outside the building in the rain. "You didn't book a bed for the baby, the baby can't stay". The mother's heart was broken when the baby was left with a high fever of 40 degrees and vomiting all night.
We ran around midnight to buy medicine and booked another hotel. I reported the incident to the police in Rome. The police confirm【 the owner has no right to refuse the stay on the basis of not giving a special reservation for a baby under 3 years old】We should call 112 for the Italian Carabinieri immediately when we were refused.
What happened was 1 This was the last hotel of a long trip in Europe. Since the baby had been sleeping in the middle with the parents in a double-bed, he could not sleep alone. We had been booking double-bed rooms in all the hotels and it works. I paid for 3 nights, and I did not see any refusal for the baby during booking.
2 The owner refused the key, even if it was just the mother with the baby, because "the room is dangerous to bring the baby. the room was small& didn't reserve for the baby"
3 The owner continued to put the room up for sale (screenshots evidence) and eventually sold it again &denied the refund to us
4 The baby was sick for a week after getting wet. Don't pick this hotel unless you want to ruin your hard-earned vacation. If you have a problem, always remember to call 112 to protect...
