Had a very unpleasant experience at this hotel. The staff was rude, unpleasant and unhelpful to say the least. Know that if you book here you are paying solely for the location in Vatican city, nothing else is up to par for the price of the rooms.
Me and my mom booked a ‘suite’ here because the room was listed as having a bed as well as a sofa bed. When we pulled the sofa bed out to use that night we found it to be stained and dirty with old food all over it. We went to ask staff for blankets and linens and for it to be cleaned. Staff was nowhere to be found at the front desk so we got linens from the hallway closet and began to clean and setup the bed ourselves. A member of staff showed up while we were making the bed since I had texted them about it. When mentioned to the staff that the bed was dirty and had no linens she explained that this was because they did not expect anyone to use it (even though its listed as one of the room features) and they expected guests to just use the main bed. She was explaining this as she sat in the doorway making no effort to assist and watched me and my mom clean the dirt and food off the bed and add the linens. This situation was frustrating but the real kicker came the next day when upon returning to our room after breakfast we found a note from the staff typed in all caps telling us to stay out of their linen closet. I confronted staff about this rude and aggressive note and the staff member decided to argue with me about the situation pointing out again that we ‘weren’t supposed to use the sofa bed’ and arguing that staff was at the front desk for us to ask for the linens (please post the video of the staff at the front desk since you were so determined to argue this point with me and kept reiterating that you had a video of it). It was very unpleasant and not in any way respectful or acceptable. This is not the type of behavior I would expect from any hotel but especially one that we paid a high price for during new year’s week. Leaving a rude note in all caps from hotel staff is something I have never experienced. Having that followed up with a staff member arguing with me about why the sofa bed was dirty was just beyond insane. From the staff’s behavior and the cleanliness and state of the room we received I would never recommend anyone stay...
Read moreThis hotel was recommended to us by friends of ours and it did not disappoint. As has been written before, the entrance is slightly tricky to find. But the address takes you to the correct spot. Just FYI, as you look at the building the entrance is the double door to the right of the Carrefour sign. The hotel is on the second floor. Again, to different countries that means different things. It’s on the third story. There is a lift to get up to it. The check in was simple and can actually be done online. They send you a link that is your door key site. It has to be used to unlock all 3 doors you will need during your stay. The staff was friendly, fabulous, helpful and always smiling. The room was small ( by US standards) but we didn’t spend much time in it except to sleep. The bathroom was fair size and the shower had good water pressure. The room was cleaned and bed made every day while we were out sight seeing. The balcony was small but sufficient and we drank coffee on it every morning and enjoyed the sights and sounds. I would stay there the next time I am in Rome. It was a nice change from a...
Read moreNot exactly a dump, but not exactly what I would come back for. First let's start with the good. Location. This hotel is literally within walking distance of everything that you can ever ask for in Rome. If it's too far to walk, the bus stop is 50 yards away and the Tobacco store that sells the bus tickets is 100 yards away. The staff is also very helpful and extremely nice. Because of these two reasons, they get two stars from me.
For the bad. The hotel is dirty. It seems as though whoever was hired to clean the place on a daily basis just skims over what they have to do and does the bare minimum. The shower was filthy as it seems that it was never ever scrubbed down since the hotel originally opened. The sheets were not white anymore and more of a cream that old white sheets turn into. The floors did not feel clean and the bed and pillows had a smell that was not exactly "fresh." This hotel was sold on pictures from an amazing photographer and was not what we expected. If it was at least cleaned properly it would get a better...
