Underwhelming, over priced, lousy service in a very raw, unfinished space. The three employees of this place were like characters in an SNL sketch. It was odd to say the least.
One person in our reservation was unable to attend dinner and they were the lucky one! We were forced to pay the full price of their meal as opposed to a cancellation fee even though the dining room was less than 1/4 full. Never experienced anything like that before.
The meal was a deconstructed “sushi” experience (there was no fish whatsoever) you were meant to build your own rolls with no explanation, no detail of the items on the tray, and no communication of any sort… granted we don’t speak Japanese which is not their fault at all but this was a pricey meal that was just left in front of us. It was fine in a sort of cute experiment sort of way but not in a $200+ usd sort of way.
Service was almost non-existent. Our table had a buzzer on the table which we used several times just to get water and plates cleared. We never even knew that the meal was over (we had to use the buzzer and ask!) it honestly felt like...
Read moreI had a wonderful experience. The restaurant is split so that no room feels too small or too big, and it felt very welcoming since we walked in. There are 3 options for the plate and they are similar but with a few additional pieces of sashimi for the pricier one; I recommend the middle one.
We had a seasonal edamame soup that we really enjoyed. It was flavorful and had a handful of edamame beans at the bottom for the last slurp. The main dish was carefully explained to us by the chef along with how to eat it. Each of the 12 sections has multiple items to taste, and when you combine that with the additional seasonings and spices you get an insane number of possible combinations. I had a bite where I combined pork with some of the heavier spices like chili, wasabi, and pepper, while I also had others where I mixed a fruit with cheese and some other vegetables and nuts. The rice was also very tasty, and maybe a bit on the sweeter side.
I really enjoyed my experience and for less than ¥2500 per person I thought I got...
Read moreFantastic experience- both my husband and I thought it was super fun, unique, delicious experience in such a special environment. We do “temaki” style hand rolls at home so I was a bit worried these could be just good looking foods and nothing more, but it was so much more. Everything was very well curated and made with a lot of care. I loved the fact that we don’t dip everything in soy sauce! All of these small items had such unique flavor articulated with herbs, spices and some kind of sauce which came through when wrapped in sushi rice and nori- and that was beautiful. We ate so many sushi in our lives but this was definitely one of the most unique and fun experience, finding out so many things go well with sushi rice and nori, not just fish and cucumbers ! Rice was also perfectly cooked so now we are eager to learn how to make better sushi rice also. There are good selection of sake, and desserts were also unique and delicious as well. The servers were kind and attentive. Thanks for taking...
