So my problem with this hotel is: I stayed here from February 4th to February 7th. We booked one room for one person and another room for two people, both with the same room type (two beds per room). However, the first time we stayed, the prices were different for each room.
Now, on February 9th, I am staying here again for one night. Right before I got to my room, I asked the front desk about the price. This time, both rooms have the same price—one room for two people with two beds, and one room for one person with two beds.
But what confuses me is that, according to their system, both rooms are listed as having three people each, even though they are still the same two-bed room type. When I pointed this out, the hotel staff said they would fix it. However, when I asked why the price is the same now, even though last time the rooms had different prices for different numbers of guests, they couldn’t give me an answer. Instead, they just said, “We don’t know, but we will try our best to find out.”
Another issue I have is with the attitude of the hotel staff at check-in. There were two people at the front desk—a woman and a man. The woman could not speak English at all, but she still gave us an attitude, with a strange look and no smile. She only spoke Japanese, with just a little English, but it was clear she couldn’t communicate with us properly. She didn’t even try to be helpful and instead looked annoyed.
Eventually, she had to bring in the man, who I assume is a manager. But even he couldn’t explain why the system showed three people per room or why the price is now the same for two rooms with a different number of guests.
Main Concerns: Why did the room prices change? Last time, the price was different for one person vs. two people in the same room type, but now they are the same. Why does the system list three people per room? Did I get charged for an extra person? Why was the female front desk staff so rude? She gave us attitude, didn’t smile, and couldn’t communicate in English at all.
P.S. I understand that hotel room rates change daily, and that’s not my main concern. My issue is specifically about the pricing difference between the same room types with different numbers of guests, as well as the incorrect system entry showing three people per room. The main points I listed above are what I...
Read moreHotel a short walk from Honomachi station (if you chose the right exits with and without luggage). There isn’t much in this area but is 20-30mins by metro to main attractions (Namba/Dontonbouri, Osaka Castle, Umeda Sky Building). The hotel is near a busy road so you do get some noise in the rooms. The communal area of the hotel is nice with free tea and coffee and the staff are polite. However I am giving this hotel 3 stars for the rooms. They are TINY. Even smaller than our compact Tokyo room. What makes it worse is the room is really poorly laid out with an awkward narrow corner for a safe and mini fridge and a dehumidifier blocking potential luggage storage space at the end of the bed. You can’t have a suitcase fully open whilst still being able to get into the bathroom or out of the room. Hanging space is in front of the mirror so you either hang things or use the mirror. It’s probably manageable for one person but it’s a struggle for a couple. The bathroom looks like someone placed a pre-fabricated room from a ship into the room. You step up into the bathroom and it’s cramped and old fashioned. It also smells damp and has a very loud extractor fan. There was also no view from the window giving it a student...
Read moreGood value stay with most of the amenities that left an impression outside the room. The room itself was basic but that was reflected in the price and website. Can tell that it was a conversion brand as the laminates didn't really match the youthful theme of the common area. But they did have some young-ish graphics on the wallpaper to be in line. One tip is to get the rooms that are wider vs deeper as it feels bigger even though they are the same size.
You have to take the toothbrushes, razor, and other items from a counter beside the reception.
The common area was very nice as there were chairs and tables for guests to work from, a coffee machine, water dispenser as well as a paid snack bar. At certain times of the day there are complimentary snacks and drinks.
Location is average as it's a bit of a walk from the Honmachi station but that station does connect to 3 lines so that's useful.
Having stayed at the four points flex nearby before this, the Garner definitely felt much better as a midscale conversion brand. This was also reflected in the price but well worth the top up in my opinion especially if you need a...
