I have come here several times on my trip to Japan and each time I always make sure I come here. This is a must go to in Osaka as one of the longest running vegetarian restaurants. I missed this place so much when we couldn't travel to Japan and have been wanting to go for so long. The place has home, cozy, relaxing vibes, spacious and they put so much love and warmth into the food, is very affordable, service is great and different variety of options. Close to Hommachi Station (Metro red Midosuji line) (not far to walk 16 min to Shinsaibashi-suji shopping street)! They have English menu and have selected menu options without alliums clearly marked and understood - Buddhist vegetarian / oriental vegetarian can eat here. I love this place and always feel like I can relax 🥰😍🙌😁 they have wifi as well and please support this place 💖💝 little gem. I sometimes order light or big meals depending on how I feel :). Thank you team and Ojii-chan 😎 I first came here in Dec 2016 and not too much has changed, still as awesome as ever! They also have home made cookies at the shop so check it...
Read moreI thought I knew what good vegan food tasted like until I walked into Green Earth in Osaka and had my palate rewritten like a bad first draft.
The food? Ethereal. It didn’t taste like vegetables trying to cosplay meat, nor did it taste like regret wrapped in lettuce. It tasted like… enlightenment. Like if Buddha opened a bistro and said, You shall attain nirvana through soy protein and a side of soup.
The staff? Let’s just say one of them looked like he stepped out of a Ghibli film where the protagonist is a tofu-powered barista with a jawline you could cut tempeh on. He was so attentive, he worried if we could finish our food a gentle concern I’ve never experienced in a country where portion sizes are usually mountain range.
And then he gave me a cookie.
A cookie.
No receipt has ever brought me such emotional closure.
I left the restaurant floating partly from fullness, partly from love, partly from spiritual fulfillment. Honestly, Green Earth didn’t just feed me. It healed something in me.
Next time I’m in Osaka, I’m not just going back,I’m...
Read moreAs soon as I stepped in, I was greeted in extremely friendly fashion and directed towards a free table. The server spoke fluent English, making it very easy on me, and there's a full English menu as well. The place has the feeling of a well-run family shop, and the atmosphere was very calm. Other customers appeared to be a mix of regulars and tourists, not that it's a tourist-y place.
Food was great! I love it when the menu is small and there are seasonal and/or daily dishes. I took the daily lunch special - a great choice, as it turned out. I greatly enjoyed the meal, the Kombucha, and the pumpkin cake, which was just perfect.
I can only recommend this place if you're ever in the vicinity!
And for my fellow tourists: payment with credit card...
