This is a budget hotel, so no frills at all. Several Osaka hotels would have complimentary coffee all day, and a mobile phone per room that you can bring around the city; this hotel did not even have a phone per room. Breakfast selection was poor and limited (see pics); and breakfast ended at 9am.||||What disappointed me was that, for a Japanese hotel, this was a dirty hotel. Examples: 1) when I first got into my room (room 702), there was an empty juice bottle on the floor left by the previous guest, and trash under the bed; 2) they change the beddings and towels daily, but never clean/vacuum the floor; 3)when I enter the room in the evenings after a day out (when the aircon is still off), the room smells like a sewer, and you have to liberally spray with room air freshener; 4) they never wash/replace used coffee cups in the room; 5) my sister’s bathroom (room 701) had a stained and dirty shower curtain (although they changed it immediately when she complained); 6) when the bathroom mirror fogged up after a shower, you could clearly see the gross dirt and grime which had accumulated (see pics); 7) there was spit or snot on the lobby couch which was not wiped in 2 days.||||Staff: reception female staff were ok, though no one spoke English. The male breakfast staff were surly, and not once in our 4-day stay did they smile or even greet you “Good morning” (in English or Japanese).||||Location: very near Kuromon Market (3 minutes' walk) and a subway stop, but be warned: the hotel address is not known by cab drivers. When we took a cab from the OCAT Namba bus station to the hotel on our arrival date, we were dropped off at a distant Dotonbori exit, about 2km from hotel. We had to walk (with large suitcases) to the hotel; no one we asked help from along the way knew the hotel or its location. It took almost an hour to search for the hotel. (Tip: Hotel is near a Grand Fresa Hotel and nearest mall is Doton Plaza; those may be a better markers.)||||The hotel rate we got from Agoda was very good. But certainly, there are far better and CLEANER hotels in Osaka, even on a budget. I will not stay here again unless there are absolutely no other...
Read moreWhile in Booking.com mentioned as easiest to find, it took us about 3 hours under the rain to find this hotel. We kept making rounds Dotounbori and Kuromon Market but still unable to find this hotel. All taxi drivers either refused to take us there or dont know about this hotel. The people on the street dont speak English and made our search harder. Imagined being drenched wet under the rain for hours (we dont know Osaka is super wet in summer 😭) and all taxis refused to take us. Our google maps kept bringing us to wrong directions.||||We went through to all back lanes and dark alleys near the Kuromon Market and after many more wasted roundings and almost gave up because we were too tired to walk, about 8.00pm we found it in the back of some dark, quiet alley, surrounded by several love hotels.||||Thank god the hotel's front desk staff was friendly and able to speak a little English and helped us to check in for the night. Our room was nice with clean bathroom but too small so there is no space to perform solat on the floor - did it on the bed. The bathroom is completed with everything you need, feel like at home. We didnt change from our wet clothes and went out to search for dry change and food. We couldnt look around Kuromon Market and find something to eat because it was closed already by that time. We have to walk and wander far to find something warm to eat that night (after long hours under the cold rain) and returned to the empty quiet streets after midnight to get our last rest before flying home the next day.||||The breakfast are limited but i like the Japanese simple breakfast (Japanese rice with miso soup, fish and vegies) . I had some cereals and toast too.||||The hotel with the rates we got from Booking.com was good but unfortunately it is hard to find during rain...
Read moreI had an extremely unpleasant experience at Welina Hotel Dotonbori. Upon check-in, we were met with a rude, short-haired Chinese staff member who was not only disrespectful to us but also to the guests waiting in line behind us. Despite her attitude, our translator/tour guide/driver politely explained that only the four of us would be checking in, excluding him since he was just guiding us.
Once we reached our rooms, we were shocked by how tiny they were—so small that even our luggage couldn’t fit properly without putting it on the bed. Later that time, our guide accompanied us to a nearby convenience store. When we returned, the rude receptionist shouted at us, telling our guide he had to leave immediately, even though it was already explained that he wasn’t staying with us and was just helping us get settled.
This kind of behavior is unacceptable, especially in Japan, where hospitality is generally excellent. We were so stressed by this experience that we decided to pull out of our booking and check into a nearby hotel instead. To make matters worse, when we contacted the hotel management and the booking agency to cancel, the hotel refused to refund even a single cent, claiming no responsibility for the actions of their rude staff.
It’s a shame that this hotel operates with such disrespectful service. On top of that, the rooms are overpriced, far too small, cleanliness is lacking, and the towels even smelled bad. I highly recommend that anyone considering this hotel think twice before booking—there are much better options in the area with staff who actually respect...
