VASARA Kimono Rental Sensoji Store — Local services in Tokyo

This store is near the Station and the Shrine. I visited Tourist Information Center of Asakusa and asked at the help desk for Kimono Rental shops nearby. She recommended this store and explained me the direction on the map of Asakusa.

First time wearing Kimono but was too expensive than I thought. The more you spend the more prettier you can look. Now I can see others wearing Kimono around the streets of Asakusa and I can guess how much budget they spent on wearing it😂 I guess other guessed mine too 😂

Standard price is around 4938 yen(including tax).

It covers simple kimono(option: around 10 basic print/color kimono) + simple style of tying the waist ribbon 🎀 (option: 2 styles) + simple hairstyle(option: 2 hairstyles with one accessory for hair) + bag (option: about 60 or more but looks old, dirty and some were damaged) + slippers (option: around 30). In this budget and limited options you will look basic but beautiful. ❤️ As shown in the picture attached.

If you can spend more, you can look more prettier. 😍 Starting from the Kimono color/print/quality, multiple options for accessories around your waist 🎀(500 yen + above ~), 6-8 options for the style of tying 🎀 (500 yen or 1100 yen I forgot), multiple options for beautiful bags(550yen), multiple options for hairstyle (1100 yen), for two hair accessories(550 yen), for unlimited numbers of hair accessories(1100 yen) and slippers which at the end they didn’t mentioned/offered the option(they gave up as I sticked to not wasting anything extra cost 😂) so I don’t know the price and options 😂

No matter what time you drop-in the store for the rental, time for returning them is until 5:30pm. Later than that will cost you late fee. You can return it the next day by paying extra 2,200 yen.

As per my experience, I felt that all the staff including cashier, hair stylist and Kimono stylist were non-judgmental. They were all welcoming and friendly. They can do basic conversation in English.

I went to the one on the 9th floor because of the positive reviews on Google. However, my experience here was not good. Upon arriving at the store, I found out that the real prices were higher than listed online. There was a sign that said if I reserve online, it would cost me about 1000 yen less. I then booked for the next available time slot to get the discount. From then on customer service went downhill. At first, it was non existent and I had to repeatedly asked to be helped. Then, when I finally got service, I could tell the girl who was helping me didn’t want to be there. When I came back to return the kimono, again no staff helped me or greeted me. When I reached out to one of the staff, they told me I can just leave the outfit there. The way my kimono was wrapped, the part where the seams attached the fabrics together shows on the front. I don’t think it was properly wrapped. There were also some hidden costs (about 500 yen) more on top of taxes that I was...

We arrived with no reservation and were out in about an hour. The men's choices were limited but still plenty of good options. We received all the layers of the kimono, the socks and sandals, umbrellas, and a bag to carry our necessities. The staff were friendly and efficient. I spent most of the time waiting for my wife who was getting ready upstairs. She didn't have the full array of options because we didn't make a reservation, but it wasn't an issue. She got her hair done too and they did a great job with it. They stored our belongings and we were free to explore the Sensoji or wherever we wanted. We could come back anytime before they closed to return our rentals. There may be cheaper options as we paid well over $100 USD each, but it's worth dressing up for...
