This review contains positives and honest negatives…Positives:- Incredible design & architectural work. - Outdoor bathtub/shower & hanging chair.- Delicious breakfast in the hotel’s restaurant included in my rates [pictures attached]! (I spent 3 days a Lloyd’s Inn - you can only select one of two items each day, but they’re different each day & absolutely delicious!! They’re restaurant quality prepared, not buffet style, but truly delicious! I’d return just for the breakfasts! P.S. friends at other hotels can walk-in and enjoy the breakfast/lunch/dinner in the hotel’s restaurant). - Bed is not bad compared to other hotels, but pillows could be a bit more comfortable.- Crisp & cool AC.- Samsung Smart TV.- Friendly staff. - 5-10mins walk to the new TRX Exchange Mall & Metro. - 10-15mins walk to city centre Pavilion Mall, Fahrenheit88 Mall etc.- Grab takes 10-15mins to Petronas Towers and Kuala Lumpur Tower depending on traffic & time of day (includes China Town). - 10/15mins Grab ride to KL Sentral if you’re taking the AirPort Express train. Negatives:- Sound proofing is not great at all… It’s a huge problem but also not really the hotel’s fault. Two of the three nights I was kept up by an open air restaurant/bar across the way where they sang songs on loudspeakers well into the night. This in turn affected travellers with children because children were screaming due to not sleeping, and as a result I could not sleep. I’d definitely encourage Lloyd’s Inn’s Management to organise a sit down meeting with that restaurant bar to negotiate a “cut off time”. - The outdoor concept design is truly incredible… I haven’t experienced this before and I’ve travelled around Asia. However, this brings forth issues - bugs! Ants & mosquitos in particular. Tip: don’t turn on the outdoor bathroom light at all and spray mosquito repellent all around the bathtub. - Check the outdoor bath for ants that falls from the outdoor plants and climb in from the bottom of the tub. I was relaxing in the bathtub and saw at least 10 ants on my arm! Needless to say, I used the shower thereafter haha. The staff did, however, come and spray bug repellent after asking - super staff! - Because the toilet is located in the shower area, during the day when it’s hot outside, that area reeks of the smell of urine. That’s one area that the hotel can take better care in, since it’s an ‘outdoor’ shower concept, the cleaning staff can hose down that area after guests check out. Once again… I’ll definitely return to this hotel. Truly love the design, concept and the restaurant dining. Thanks to all the staff - you’re awesome! I’ll definitely also stay at Lloyd’s Inn at their branches around Asia as I have now learned that they have plenty...
Read moreA pretty value for money hotel stay. About USD470 for 5 nights.
Room: We stayed the Reading Loft for two. We enjoyed the outdoor bathroom concept, though we were visited by bugs throughout the stay. The room was simple and met our basic needs. Bathroom door could not close fully and there were parts of the room where paint was peeling and piled up with dust.
The soundproofing for the room was horrible as we could hear other guests climbing their stairs in the neighbouring rooms. Dogs were barking throughout the night in the area. Any outdoor event at TRX, such as the Gumball rally that lasted till the wee hours for consecutive days (including soundchecks and rehearsals) also made falling asleep much harder - would recommend to check any event schedule if considering to stay here. The vents, water pipes and air condition were also churning noises throughout the night.
Would suggest for the hotel to provide 1 water dispenser on each floor for the convenience of guests, as there is currently only 1 on the top floor for now.
We did not use the pool as it was directly in front of the reception counter, which felt a little strange and awkward. The pool is also very small, so guests can probably only dip rather than go all out with strokes.
Service: Good counter staff service. Requested for high floor and was given one with a decent view. However, despite the stated 3pm check-in timing, we were told to come back at 4pm as our room was not ready. Reason cited was due to full occupancy. Complimentary redeemable cup of drink and a tin of chocolate chip cookies included. Housekeeping was friendly and responsive.
Breakfast was included in the price, and we were able to select either the western brunch menu or the local nasi lemak. There is also some eat-all-you-can items such as milk, cereals, croissants, fruits, coffee. Bistro is small and guests may need to queue when seats are filled. Waiting time for the food can be long as well. Can get quite chaotic due to the number of people in that small space. Personally, breakfast for two mornings there would be more than enough. Highly recommend guests to visit the cafes and stalls nearby for other breakfast options.
Location: Location was good, walking distance to TRX mall with an amazing shopping experience. Slightly further walking distance from KLCC, Pavilion and Berjaya Times Square. Sadly, there wasn't a convenience store or supermarket nearby.
Taking a private hire car to and fro of the hotel was also easy.
Overall a satisfactory stay, we may consider staying again if we are able to book at...
Read moreOne of the worst hotel services ever. We had a small company retreat here and the staffs were all really inexperience and inefficient from the day we checked in, until the point of check out.
The food in Opeum was good, but also be prepared to wait for the food as they are not the most efficient when it comes to services in the F&B industry. We thought of saving time by pre-ordering lunch for our team of 8pax, sent in our order by 11:45am, but was informed that kitchen only opens at 12:00pm and food would be ready by 12:30pm. That was fine with us. However, when we arrived in the restaurant at 12:30pm, they only started preparing our food with the excuse that the wants to dishes to be freshly prepared and warm to serve us. And by the time everyone receive their food, it was already 1:30pm and it caused so much delay to the rest of the agenda for that day.
The rooms are alright, but are smaller than what is shown on their website. Not much comments about their rooms because this was probably the only decent thing from our whole experience.
We rented the meeting room for our company event and the main meeting room can be separated into 2 smallers meeting rooms. But the lights and air conditioning switch for the meeting rooms were also poorly designed that it can be only be accessed from the first meeting room. We were assigned to the 2nd meeting room and we had to go to the first meeting room to turn on/off the lights and air conditioning system. It’s was also a nuisance when other user in the first meeting room turned off the lights or aircond while we were still in our meeting room because they thought that the switch only controls the electronics in their room. Really didn’t know which interior designer came up with such a useless design.
There is only valet parking available and they use an elevator to transport the cars to the parking levels. On the day of check out, there was an issue in with the elevator and we waited for more than 30mins for them to retrieve our vehicle. And there were no proactive efforts from the staff to help speed up the process, only until we started losing our patience and raising it to the manager, that they probably started taking serious actions to resolve the issue.
Would never have expected a hotel chain with high standards from SG to fail so badly when venturing into a new country and really the lack of training for their staff is just...
