Joka Joka Guest House — Hotel in Malacca

Staff and location are nice but should put more attention on management. A couple kept talking from day to night like it was their own private room. I said this to the hostel keepers but they didn't reply. Yes, most of the time they aren't on site but online. I also asked for another blanket at their working hours because the fan kept blowing cold air to my bed. They promised but I never received one. The dorm is not in a room. It's an open area with toilets (no toilet paper and shampoo) and eating corner. Could be quite unclean and noisy. Other hostels in this area is the same price if you pay them offline so please...

Location was good, close to things we needed, 7eleven next door which is convenient. However the bedrooms were far too small for two people plus our bags, the bed caved into the middle so we ened up sleeping on top of each other and the air-conditioning was rarely turned on. The bedrooms were always so dark and the toilets were atrocious, flimsy doors that you couldn't lock properly, no access to toilet paper and everything was always soaking...

The staff lady (I forgot to get her name) was absolutely wonderful - very helpful and friendly throughout my entire stay! I stayed on the ground floor, clean thick beds, with aircon and fan in the dorm. They only have one bathroom for the entire floor but had no issues waiting a short time if anything for it. Initially stayed for one night, then extended for 2 more nights. Hidden gem, will book here again for sure if I visit...
