Backlane Coffee — Restaurant in Malacca

I had a very bad experience here. When I tried calling their business number as seen on Google to make a reservation, the number is not in service. They didn’t pick up the phone when I tried calling the number from their Instagram either.

After reaching the restaurant at 10:00AM, they were still closed and the staff did not try to come out and explain to us why or request for us to wait. We waited until 10:30AM and chose to walk all the way around to their back door where they finally opened the shutter only when I asked them.

After entering the restaurant, we went to order and the cashier did not even respond after we wished her good morning twice. She didn’t know how to answer any of our questions and got confused between a croissant and a croffle. The other staff member also was not much help and when we said that we’ll have to look somewhere else, they did not apologise for the inconvenience caused to us and instead said, “yeah, you should look somewhere else”.

I don’t think any level of stress or hurdles in opening shop should result in this kind of treatment towards customers. This was unacceptable behaviour and I expect...

My first experience to walk in such a beautiful cafe in Melaka and with soft environment but unfortunately I face un acceptable service. Step in without any welcoming word couple with the bad attitude of one of the cashier with long hair without spectacle on 7/5/22 time: 01.15pm. Didn’t get her name due to her very bad serviced with no smiling face even to request a menu she’s answer NO , just to place order here. But actually another waitress with spectacle wanted to hand out menu to us. That bad service cashier avoid her to provide us another menu. Is that true with a good environment , there’s only one menu you have? At the end 5 of us walk away and when to another cafe with great serviced even though we have to Q up for 1/2 hour Only I notice why your shop is empty whereby other cafe is full of tourists and customers dine in. Take note your cashier with long hair without spectacle on duties dated 7/5/22...

The worst cafe I ever been to .

Ordered 2 drinks . Rose latte and iced burnt caramel latte.

The rose latte that tastes like perfume water mixed with syrup . It's not even a little hot or nice at all.

The iced burnt caramel latte is nothing but a bit of coffee with a lot of syrup.

Tried to complain and ask to change to other drinks but the Chinese waitress doesn't give an f and just pack up her bag to leave . The othe foreign worker goonies just act dumb.

This is just the coffee. Dont even want to start about the food.

To the management of Backlane Coffee. Please try your own coffee first before serving to customer. It's a pity you serve this kind of food and drinks to customer despite all the money spent into the renovations .

Please improve .

You bring shame to the word cafe and coffee.
