In my opinion, this shop serves the best popiah in Melaka.
I ordered the popiah with low expectations as the pork lard popiah from another famous shop did not appeal to me at all. Was about to skip this dish but my bf insisted we try. Took a bite and realised I almost missed out on this delicious popiah! So good we took one away. We ate the popiah much later after it turned cold in the air cond room, but guess what - the pork lard was still crispy! I totally regret not getting another one.
The nyonya laksa was not bad, served piping hot but too spicy for me (I can't take spicy food). The nyonya dumpling was a little bland and could do better with more filling. The drink was normal, not their speciality.
So, would I come back again? Of course! Can't wait to visit Melaka again for this popiah.
Note: Do be patient and considerate as the owner is very busy taking orders and making the orders, running up and...
Read moreThis is definitely one of my favourite place for authentic nyonya foods! This little unpretentious shop served probably the best nyonya dumpling/chang in town! The other one I love is Michelle Soo nyonya dumpling in Bukit Rambai. And the popiah with pork lard is also probably the best! It is not as oily as Bungaraya popiah, the other good pork lard popiah is Tong Seng popiah at Xin Ann kopitiam. Nyonya curry mee is also very delicious! I would say this place is a little gem! The price is also very reasonable! This is a family run business and the service is also good and friendly. As this is a little shop, there aren't many tables and chairs. So sometimes, you may have to wait to be seated. Parking can be a little challenging in the surrounding area. I give five stars because of the...
Read moreThis stall is not very transparent with pricing. There is no clear indication of the prices for each dish except for the poh piah. We ordered two poh piah, laksa, rojak, nyonya dumpling. When paying the bill, the uncle was counting the total price using calculator but the young owner keep telling the uncle to charge us extra for 3 pax when the portion they serve for each of the dish we ordered is clearly for one pax. This is a dishonest way of doing business without clearly stating the price and serving size upfront. It is rather obvious they are trying to squeeze a couple more buck from unsuspecting tourist with such tactics. The rojak sauce is diluted as well. If you wish to try this stall , pls take note and ask them about the price and serving portion upfront before...
