Beach Arena Inn — Hotel in Malé

Honestly I hate writing bad reviews but I want to help other travelers to avoid having bad experience.||||First and foremost I supposed not to leave a review for this hotel since I did not opt for this once, it’s just a fallback from the mistake of SEASUN BEACH that they’re fully committed and threw us here.||||But the things that made up my mind to comment about this hotel is once I’m about to leave there is no cab for me, I requested for it the night before since I’m leaving early morning for my flight and they agreed on that and said that the cab will be there at 5:00 in the morning and I requested as well a packed breakfast and they agreed again. During the day of my departure I asked the guy where is the cab, forget about the packed breakfast since I’m not so hungry that time. I don’t know if he understands me but he just said wait and sit so I waited for about 20 minutes, and I don’t want to miss my flight so I asked about the can again and said it will come at 6:30 am, how it could be possible if I ask for it at 5:00 am and why should I come down 1 hour and 30 minutes if I booked it for 6:30 am, common sense!||||So I ended up looking for my own cab to ride on, luckily I was not late for my flight.||||Below are the things which I noticed but did not complain much about since I can see that they just open recently, but set the standards first before opening if you want to have a lot of guests.||||1. They send us to the 3rd floor without even asking what type of room is our preference ||||2. The staircase is too narrow so be careful in walking||||3. There’s a lot of construction things all around the place||||4. WiFi connection is very slow, slower than how the turtles walk||||5. Requested to change room in lower floor , and yes they did but the one light of the room is not working properly so the room is dim and washroom light is busted so needs to use a flashlight ||||6. AC is not working properly ||||7. No view at all and too far from the main road and beach area||||8. Too noisy, wasn’t able to sleep properly because of the construction going on||||Lastly I don’t know why but I don’t feel safe in this hotel. It was a last minute booking that I did via Agoda. My room was on the 2nd floor (yes I request a higher floor room). There was no lift going up. Luckily they helped me with my luggage. Very decent room for MVR600+ (USD 39 including tax). Has in room shower, towels...etc. When I arrived, I have no idea how to get there so I approached the information counter. They gave me a number to called and the hotel staffs told me to take a taxi. I asked them how much would it cost/ he said MVR60 so, that's fine with me... When I arrived the taxi driver asked me for MVR75, while paying I told the taxi driver, the hotel staff said it's only MVR60, he said it's a different taxi (not local one). When I arrived at the reception and made payment, I told the staff about the taxi, he said it's common for the taxi driver to asked for more. He promised me that he'll get a local taxi for me the next morning with the fare of MVR60 to the airport. The next day, I came down for breakfast, I told the guy at the reception (not the same one promising me the previous night) to get the LOCAL taxi for me that cost MVR60 at 11am, he said okay. After breakfast and packing up my stuff, I came down and wait for the taxi. When the taxi arrive, I board it to the airport.... and as expected the fare of the taxi was MVR75. I can afford to pay MVR 75 if that's the standard rate, you don't have to tell me lies and said it's a different kind of taxi or something. ||||Bathroom was a bit slippery, I have to let the water run in order to clean up the soap residue. Each floor has internet but the connection is not stable and you have to get the password from the reception. Breakfast was really upsetting. They dont asked you what you want, they just give you a glass of cordial drink, asked if you want a tea or coffee, then served you a plate in which I assume it was "Big breakfast" a few slice of toast, butter & jam, some fried eggs, a sausage and half apples and half orange. ||||Not coming here ever...

I believe this building is new.||||1.away from beach. No view at all. Alot of construction is going on.||||2.lighting of the property is not so bright i fells like not safe.||||3.the room we have was the upper floor and no lift. The stair is really small and it is really prone to accident. Please be carefull when ur going to stay here.||||4.its a new building or accommodation establishment they should have set standard before operating.||||5.upon checkin they only ask for our i.d without asking for our preference and did not provide any information about our stay with them.||||6. We dont know what time is the breakfast. Reception area is still under construction.||||7.you can hear all hammering sound from other floor.||||8.aircon is not working well. ||||9.wifi connection is worst.||||10.light of the room is not working they transfer us to a different room but the bathroom light is broken so we have to use flashlight.||||11. I ask for a packed breakfast and a taxi but they did not arrange any.
