Diving in Maldives – A Shark Encounter to Remember 🦈🌊

During our recent trip to the Maldives, we decided to signed up for a diving package with Dive Club Maldives – and what an incredible experience it turned out to be!

Had an amazing diving experience with Dive Club Maldives! The equipment was well maintained and in excellent condition, giving us full confidence throughout the dives. The staff were incredibly friendly, professional, and made us feel very safe at all times.

Special shout-out to Victoria from Austria – her bubbly personality truly won our hearts! She was super helpful, approachable, and made the entire experience even more enjoyable.

We explored two dive sites: Kurumba Wall and the unforgettable Shark Tank. While both were unique in their own ways, Shark Tank absolutely stole the show. 🐋

Shark Tank, located just 10 minutes from Hulhumale, is renowned for its rich shark population. Divers often encounter up to seven shark species here. The site also hosts other marine life like stingrays and guitarfish. Due to its depth (up to 30m) and variable conditions, it's recommended for advanced open water divers.

We were lucky enough to encounter 4 out of the 7 shark species known to frequent the site: ✅ Bull Shark ✅ Tiger Shark ✅ Lemon Shark ✅ Spinner Shark

It was both thrilling and awe-inspiring to see these majestic creatures up close in their natural habitat. If you're planning a dive trip to the Maldives, Shark Tank is a must-visit. This dive alone made the trip truly unforgettable.

These guys were FANTASTIC! I was there 2 days early for a liveaboard trip launching out of Male and lined up some dives with DCM. I checked in the day before, as the shop was in the neighborhood I was staying. The manager - Hossain - let me know the protocol, when to arrive, etc. I also mentioned I'd be heading directly to a liveaboard on the second day after the AM dive, and... they arranged to drop me off at the liveaboard. How fantastic is that?

Also, Dos was a GREAT DM (and Hossain as well for bringing up the rear). I was especially please w him being comfortable moving people out of the way so everyone could get good shots of the mantas. We were told to be conscious of this ahead of time, but I think some folks got caught up in the moment. Bravo to Dos for reminding them, physically, when needed.

The boat is nothing extravagant, but it has a canopy and the crew works hard to make sure everyone is taken care of. I don't think we hit a dive site that was more than 15 minutes from the dock. Each trip was a 2 tank dive, but no everyone did the second day. Also note - they don't have nitrox, so if that's important to you, you're out of luck. I usually dive nitrox but didn't realize until I was booked that they didn't have it. Turned out I was just fine without it and the experience was great throughout.

I'd recommend them to anyone going down there. Great folks...

We recently completed our Open Water, Advanced Open Water, and Nitrox certifications with Dive Club Maldives, and we were incredibly fortunate to have Aishwarya as our instructor. From day one, she was highly professional, patient, and deeply committed to our safety and comfort.
