Casa Sauto is a lovely property in the heart of Mexico City. For being 422 years old, our room (La Princesa Suite) was incredibly renovated, while still keeping it's old world charm. We arrived a bit earlier than our expected check-in time, so we had a little bit of trouble getting into the building to drop our bags. Fortunately after 10-15 minutes of brief panic outside with all of our bags and no response at the doorbell (or over the phone), a gentleman (I believe his name was Artemio) popped out and was able to get us situated. Gracias por su ayuda, Artemio! Our suite was spacious, comfortable, and surprisingly quiet considering the location next to the much-visited Cathedral. Water pressure in the shower was excellent, and the bed and linens were divine. While we would definitely stay here again, Casa Sauto should consider sustainability going forward by providing guests larger, 5-gallon jugs of filtered water, rather than 1 small, individual plastic bottle. In addition to this, communication was a bit lacking from management. Checkout was at 11:00 am, however our flight wasn't until much later in the afternoon. We tried calling and emailing management, seeking a safe place to store our luggage in the meantime, but never got a response. As such, we had to lug our bags with us throughout the city for the next few hours, which was obviously not ideal. Overall, however, it was an...
Read moreThe historic hotel was absolutely stunning, with its rich past beautifully showcased throughout the property. We stayed in the Santo Domingo room for two nights and slept comfortably in a king-size bed overlooking Calle de Tacuba. The room featured a small balcony with a view of the Zócalo, and it was both spacious and inviting, complete with elegant furniture and a small kitchenette.
Although the hotel mentions limited hot water duration, we never had an issue—there was plenty of time to enjoy a relaxing shower. The building felt very secure, with controlled entry and round-the-clock staff available to assist guests. Everyone we encountered was incredibly kind, attentive, and helpful.
The restoration work is truly impressive; the team has done an amazing job preserving the building’s historic charm while creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere. I can’t wait to return to CDMX and...
Read moreHad the most amazing experience staying at the Casa Sauto. We booked through VRBO. The host was super accommodating and helped us get set up. The accommodations are absolutely stunning and you can feel the history of the building and the city in every detail. The beds were comfortable and the room was neat, plumbing and electrical worked great. The location also felt very safe and had incredible access to the Zocalo. Public parking is available directly across the street but does not offer daily rates. 15/10 would...
