Really friendly staff so I'll give them that. The room was hot though and the fan was broken. The lock jammed twice and I had to ask for help twice to get into my own room. The building is old so expect the doorways and the ceilings to be low. If you're taller than say 5'2 expect to have your head hit quite frequently. The breakfast was not great. Toast and an egg and some cold bell pepper flavored potatoes. Also if you order food from the restaurant don't expect it to be very good. Their is only one shower available if you don't book a room with a private bathroom. There's also just a bathroom downstairs. Both the bathroom and the shower were absolutely filthy and not very clean smelling. What I didn't appreciate was that one of the staff members had me open the booking app and had me sit down and write a five star review for him while hoovering over my shoulder. That wasn't cool. It's also quite loud around. Expect to be woken up around 6 every morning with either talking or construction or barking dogs. I'll see about changing the forced review on trip advisor. Maybe others have had better experiences but mine...
Read moreThe stand out factor of this property is the staff working here. They are ever willing to help you in every way they can. The manager is a wonderful person and he tries to make sure the stay is as comfortable as possible. Me and my wife stayed for 3 nights in a deluxe room. Room was spacious and air conditioniong was preety good.Complimentary brealfast was simple yet delicoous. The only downside is the location. The alley leading to the hotel is narrow and you cant drive your four wheeler. The hotel staff helps you to get your luggage from the main road to the hotel but if you dont inform them earlier its a hassle to drag your bags from main road to the hotel entrance . So, inform the hotel earlier or give them a call if you have more bags than you can handle personally. They will be always willing to help , you just need to let them know. For the price range, I would say this hotel hits the spot. Thanks for the great hospitality...
Read moreWe spend several nights at Kathmandu Boutique Hotel and it was always amazing. During our trip in Nepal we came 3 times back to this lovely place and spend in total 15 nights. We always stayed in the very nice restored ancient part of the building, which was part of a former palace, with a lot of wooden carvings and original items.
The staff is very helpful and friendly and it felt like coming home. All the rooms we had, were really nice and clean. The location is just perfect to explore the area around Durbar Square and Thamel, but also very quiet. It has a very nice garden to relax and the kitchen serves very good food.
The hotel has a travel agency attached and that was very convenient for organizing and booking our treks and buses (at a good price according to our checks at other agencies). We were very happy with the guides they chose for us and everything worked out just fine.
Thanks a lot for everything: We will definitely...
