I was in Kathmandu for business with my team of four from Germany for two weeks. We decided to try this place instead of staying at a business hotel, and what a great choice we made!
We were so comfortable that, instead of using the office, we hosted our work trainings with the local team in the courtyard where the hotel staff provided a whiteboard and a stand for us. We loved working there with the greenery and the excellent cappuccinos they served.
I also really appreciated that they lent hairdryers, organized our laundry, cleaned the room daily upon request, and always charged extremely fair rates. The staff was both professional and friendly. They also gave fantastic recommendations for dinners and city visits. They took very serious any small issue and solved any problem right away.
The only significant downside of the hotel is the current travel manager. In every interaction with him, I encountered an issue. The same happened with my team, and we observed other guests facing similar problems during our stay. He has a habit of intentionally overcharging Westerners, booking tours without agreeing on a price, or then changing the price after an agreement is made. He even lied about the agreed price, but fortunately, I had witnesses. I normally refrain from publically critisizing someones work or livelihood, but i think in this case is granted. I still give the hotel a 5 star because the travel manager is not part of the fixed staff and i did already share this with them and they were not aware of the behavior.
I will be coming back, thank you so much for taking such...

Fantastic and unbelievable is what I can say about Hotel Ganesh Himal, last time when I was here got the finest of reception and welcome right from the entrance till my scheduled stay of 3 days. Memories are still fresh in my mind as I was never made to wait unnecessarily for smallest of things everything was in order and flawless. Ganesh Himal made my stay worthwhile and I got every worth of my money that I spent. The crew members the housekeeping staff, the security guard and other supporting staff were very friendly and cooperative. Regardless of my origin and background never ever gave a room of suspicion reluctance or discrimination, everything was smooth and wonderful.
My heart and thoughts goes to Ganesh Himal its owner and its staff members, and if I am around Nepal again I would like to be sheltered one more time in a place of complete profound...
Read moreIn total I spent five nights in Kathmandu. I only got a decent night sleep on three of them. ||This was my fifth time in Nepal although I hadn't been there for 10 years. The tourist area, Thamel, which I do love with all the shopping and crazy business going on has got busier and noiser. ||After a couple of nights with no sleep I checked trip advisor and came across Hotel Ganesh Himal - what luck! This hotel is about a ten minutes or so walk from Thamel and that is a good thing when you need rest! Not only did I get decent nights sleep, this hotel was also the nicest I stayed in. They have a lovely courtyard garden so you can sit and rest, write up your journal, postcards etc.||I picked the hotel as the reviews said it was quiet but it is also a family run hotel and has been there 30 years. I met Karma and another really nice young man at reception and they could not have been nicer and more helpful. All the staff were lovely but perhaps that could have been I just had more sleep and was feeling the love myself! ||I intend to get back to Nepal again soon and will definitely be staying here. Just to add I did go out one night in Thamel (stayed out until gone 2am! And I'm 50! It's like I was on holiday or something...) and walked easily back to the hotel. Do yourself a favour - enjoy Kathmandu and the crazy of Thamel but stay here for a good night's sleep, a place to chill and...
