We slept on a overnight bus and get here very early at 6am in the morning. We saw two guys just checked out and we were still told to wait in their “barely a” lobby for 5 more hours till the check in time. Their “lobby” is very cold and open to the air. It’s also raining outside. We asked if we can have breakfast here and willing to pay for it and, surprisingly they said no. Then the lady in the reception tell me it only takes 2 hours for our room to ready so we waited till now. I have slept an hour in their tilted couch and I was told just now we have to wait one more hour!! This is our fourth hotel in Bolivia and Peru. We were allowed to have breakfast at morning we arrived, we were also provided with another empty room for us to rest before our room is ready yet we’ve never seen this circumstance before!! So terrible! I chose this hotel for its really good reputation and so close to the Plaza de Armas. Now it’s total a disaster. We knocked their door for quite long time and they even didn’t seem to care to help with our luggage since their hotel has no elevator and all their rooms are above the second floor. This is how Cusco...

There is no elevator, so no way to get your luggage to the hotel unless you lug it upstairs. ||||(Thankfully, we packed lightly, so getting our carry-on upstairs was not such a big deal, but for those of you who pack big suitcases, be aware.)||||Clean hotel, quite a step up from the airy ruggedness of Aguas Calientes hotels. Free breakfast, and everything is done in the charming Spanish influence.||||All this is compounded by the fact that it's literally across the street from Plaza de Armas. We only had a few hours to spare before we caught a flight to Puerto Maldonado, so I had calculated that getting a hotel in the center of the oldest part of town was a good investment of our time--and it absolutely was.||||Very close to most of the oldest architecture, the Centro Artesanias de Cusco (a must-see!) and, of course,...
Read moreThey say it's 24 hour reception, but that's not true. We got there early maybe 5-6am but there was no one there but the door was unlocked so we let ourselves in and waited for maybe 20 minutes and someone came out to help us. They let us have an early check in which was super nice. When we tried to leave one night around 2am, the door was locked and no one was at reception. If you have any early morning tours that meet at odd hours like 4am, you have to tell the receptionist and they will be up to let you out. Also if you come in late you should tell them around what time, we got locked out before on the outside of the gates and had to call twice. Luckily we had a phone to call them. They are very nice, but they really need to update their page about the 24...
