I am a first generation Chinese-American who grew up and still resides in a predominantly Chinese community in Greater Los Angeles in California.
I understand that there are differences when it comes to Chinese-Peruvian aka “Chifa” and actual Chinese cuisine. However I have eaten Chaufa (Peruvian Chinese fried rice) at Peruvian places in LA that tasted better than what I had tonight. I was not impressed with the food that was served to us tonight. The fried rice just tastes like your run-of-the-mill fried rice from whichever Chinatown in BFE in the middle of the United States. The fried pork whatever it is thing was heavy on the sweet sauce with no real dimensions to it. The fried wontons were just alright, if you’re gonna fry them you might as well have the batter on the outside be more flavorful.
The few redeeming items- the house hot sauce was really good. The cocktails are up to standard with the rest of the area. Chic upscale ambiance.
Service was lackluster although friendly. They hardly checked in on us.
If you are a self-respecting Asian, please eat elsewhere. I’ve never eaten at P.F. Chang’s in the United States but this is what I imagine it to be. cough for those who don’t understand sarcasm, you’d never catch me at a P.F. Chang’s 😇 but then again that establishment doesn’t exist in Peru so maybe local people/foreigners will think that KION is truly up there.
**PS For everyone still reading, if you’re ever in the Los Angeles area, make a visit to the San Gabriel Valley for real Chinese food- your taste buds will thank you.
**PSS if you still want to try Chifa, you might have better...

It was a disappointing experience, to say the least. The reason we went looking for Chinese food is because my unwell vegetarian friend was craving a soup.
Before we were even seated we inquired about whether or not a veggie soup would be possible to do. The response was affirmative and we were assigned a table on the spot without a reservation. This was a good start. However, after a fairly long wait, the soup brought out to my friend contained pieces of chicken in it and he took a couple of bites before realising this. This is after we confirmed and reconfirmed several times with different wait staff that we would like it without the meat and egg.
The menu is not vegetarian friendly at all. Which is surprising in this day and age. Not one single main, other than a fried rice, was vegetarian. The service, over and above this mishap, was horrendous with us repeatedly having to signal for attention and long wait periods between being attended to. The couple on a table near us left soon for the same reason. While the food looked great, the flavours were below average. The soups were tasteless and the dumplings in mine were too big to be eaten in one bite and too hard to be broked down with my soup spoon. The only saving grace was the chilli sauce/dip (Schezwan chutney style) that we cleaned up two bowls off in the hope to add some density of flavour to the food.
The prices were fair, and while we didn't call for drinks, the bar looked great.
Overall quite a disappointing meal in a location that's filled with fantastic...
Read moreI recently visited KION Peruvian Chinese in Cusco and had a delightful dining experience. I started with the Wonton Soup, which was flavorful and comforting, with a rich broth and tender wontons. The balance of spices and the freshness of the ingredients made it a perfect way to begin the meal.
For my main courses, I had the Sam Si fried rice and the Taypa Especial. The Sam Si rice, featuring chicken, char siu, and prawn, was incredibly tasty, with each ingredient perfectly cooked and the dish having a great mix of textures. The Taypa Especial, a dish with chicken, prawns, char siu, and Chinese mushrooms, was both filling and satisfying. The addition of a quail egg added a rich touch to the meal, making it a unique experience.
Lastly, the Siu Kao dumplings were a highlight. The crunchy exterior and the flavorful filling of pork, chicken, shrimp, and Chinese mushrooms were delicious, offering a fantastic texture contrast with the rest of the meal.
The restaurant’s atmosphere was warm and inviting, with attentive service that made the experience even more enjoyable. If you're in Cusco, KION Peruvian Chinese is a must-visit for a unique...
