We absolutely loved our stay at Rumi Wasi Hotel! It is in a great location - a short walk from the main Plaza and the foundation of the charming building is original Incan stones. The hotel is about a 30-minute taxi ride from the airport. This is a very small hotel (maybe 10 rooms or so) that you access from an interior courtyard. Once you arrive, they will serve you coca tea to assist with the altitude. The tea is available along with a water filling station 24/7 but do not drink it late at night like we did because it will keep you awake! The staff is very attentive and friendly and they live on the property. The rooms are simple but clean and they do provide a delicious but simple breakfast in the morning which is included in your stay. At night, the staff comes around with hot water bottles and puts them in the bed near your feet to keep you warm. The hotel is on a street that taxis cannot drive up and it is at the top of a hill, so be prepared to walk up that hill any time you venture out and are returning. Take your time walking up the hill while you acclimate. The manager of the hotel provided great recommendations for restaurants and activities - our personal favorite was Moreno, a restaurant in the Plaza where we had the best meal of the trip. They also have local art and crafts on display throughout the hotel that are available to purchase. Rumi Wasi was our favorite hotel of the trip and I definitely recommend staying there during your...
Read moreWe arrived, tier and frustrated, our bags were still in Lima, and we had endured 3x flights to get to Cusco from London. ||Manuel greeted us warmly, gave us some coca leave tea, and signed us in. Were in room 7 a really pleasant room, comfortably furnished, with roof top terrace with stunning views across the rooftops of Cusco and views to the main square. ||Manuel was (is) a star, helping us resolve our baggage issues, cars to get essentials, to/from the airport to collect our cases (don't ask, #Iberia are not our preferred carrier and never will be!) ||He communicated at all hours vias WhatsApp which was really very much appreciated. ||When it was time to leave Rumi Wasi he suggested a tour on the way to Urubamba our next destination, and Ruben the driver/tour guide, turned up.||We stopped at Chinchero, Salt mines at Maras, Moray and some Inca market shops, all in all a brilliant tour and thanks to Manuel we did something we would not have otherwise. ||With regards to the hotel itself, it is a really quant hotel, quiet, interesting architecturally set over several levels around a 'sunken' courtyard. Quiet atmospheric.||All ion all would definitely recommend a stay if you're looking for something different in a good way.||Manuel gets five starts as...

Worst experience ever! If I could give a 0 star, I would!
I made a Non- Refundable booking since I had no plans on cancelling this booking. However, the day after I reached Puno, things went crazy in Puno, the national government was in a turmoil and the entire nation was closed. There were protests leading to road blockades and airports were shut down due to safety concerns. We are still stuck in Puno until things open up. Since there isn’t a possibility for us to reach Cusco, I raised for cancellation and requested refund for this booking. This place denied refund as it was Non-refundable. I wasn’t making the cancellations on my own accord. I was cancelling because their country had no means for me to reach this place. Is it my fault that there entire political system was overturned? They should accommodate such requests on humanitarian grounds. We are anyway away from home stuck in a foreign country, feeling extremely unsafe with no clue when we will be able to get back home and this is how the people of this country treat you.
If they do not have such basic sensibility, I regret that I even made a booking at such a place. Can never imagine that humanity can stoop to such...
