Just finished a stay at Discovery Shores and wanted to share my thoughts.
I went with my son to celebrate hm turning 18 years old earlier this year.
First of the Hotel is situated on the gorgeous white beach. The beach is not private and both vendors and people walk and stay on the beach in front of the Hotel.
There are no sun loungers at all for the beach. You get towels and a blanket from the hotel. Personally I don't think it's very comfortable at all because if you want to read, do things on your mobile phone you don't sit/lay comfortable at all. The water had a stunning 25-26 degrees. I noticed some other Hotels had at least a few sun loungers and for me for a 5* (star) property should have that. Not comfortable at all over an extended period to be just in a towel on the ground.
For the food and beverage the Hotel is not close to being a five star hotel.
Breakfast is incredibly under staffed as you are not allowed to take/pick your own food. I stayed at two other Hotels in the area where there was a traditional breakfast buffet. I spent 30 minutes to get a under cooked omelette as an example. Fruit was not fresh. For foreigners this Hotel is a no go as the staff speak very poor English. We tried to mitigate by going earlier to breakfast but again for long long lines for everything. They should have more staff and better quality in general.
Had dinner two times at the Hotel. Both times we ordered starters and main course.
Waiting time was unbearable and both times the starters and main course came together. First day we where starving so didn't bother to complain. Second day I tried to speak to the waiter and explaine that food of the main course was going to get cold. Two waiters just smiled and didn't want to understand. Finally someone else came and took our main course to put in a heat lamp. The Thai soup was very tasty as a starter however second course was then half cold and french fries lost its crispness.
Drinks were in general tasty
Always dine out if you decide to stay at the Hotel. Not worth the wait and prices was just inflated. Many good choices close to the hotel walking.
The main pool was to small and has unbelievably just 8 sun loungers that are all busy. Jacuzzi was nice. Pool area is for me not big enough for the hotels size.
I ended up reading in my room as chairs where busy around the pool and hard to find a good reading position on the beach.
There is a huge level difference between hotels floors so getting to the beach if you have a room on the top is attached to walking lots of stairs. If you are a senior citizen or family with young kids consider this before booking.
The gym is very small and has awkward damp smell. Air conditioning was not working. Has 4 cardio machines and free weights. Cable machine is a good option. Problem is you have to book in a advance and when you are on holiday you don't want to plan to much. One day only time available was 20.00. Not near 5 or 4 star quality.
One day one of our keys stopped working and we went to reception at around 2100. Instead of making a new key they told us to go wait by our door and someone would open. Took 15 minutes without anyone showing up. I went to back angry and of course they solved it in the end. No apologies offered.
Room was spacious and well cleaned. Internet was OK during the stay with good wireless connectivity around the property.
We had booked departure at 14.00 and and no one came to help with bags and transport (their hotels own car) came 30 minutes late. No big issue in the big scheme of things. But in Asia where Hotels are famous for excellent service I was disappointed.
As a very usual traveler I can't recommend this hotel especially if you don't speak the language. However Boracay Island is beautiful and very much worth the visit.

Read moreI was tossing between this resort and another resort that's fairly new compared to discovery shores but opted for discovery for their service. They were reliable and prompt during pick-up and check in and servers along the beach was great in assisting by providing mats and sun beds. Some downside that really put myself and my partner (his first time in Boracay)off were: I've rang 2 times on our first day and 3 times on our second say that our sink was clogging, bidet spray was leaking when being used so entire hand and legs were getting wet. They said they'll have their maintenance come NOW everytime and no one came. So we asked 5 times accross 2 days and nothing was done. We had to go down to their guest services to request for things to be fixed (you would think they would offer to change rooms ASAP but nothing was offered). The mini bar was EMPTY when we arrived I noticed all other rooms that other family members booked had the big Bogart bear in their room but we never had one. I mentioned this in the first 2 times I rang to complain about the clogging/leak. I guess they don't have a check list when cleaning the room? Our room did not have a drying rack on the balcony for our wet clothes till I was in the pool and noticed all balcony had one, so requested- again,no checklist for cleaning. Everytime we order at the sands bar for drinks, server would have to walk to the cashier and then get us to sign instead of having everything processed on the same bar? That was weird and inefficient. My partner ordered beer at the sands bar and server spilled the beer on my partner and did not offer to give him a new beer when it has spilled and created too much froth. Early morning just after 6am we went down for breakfast and partner asked for butter twice and servers said yes on both occasions but no butter was given so I asked for the last time and I think they may not have understood my partner who has an aussie accent cause the server said "ah butter" when I requested for it. They apologize and said they did not give the butter a ASAP as they were doing a briefeing. They could have infomed us about this instead of saying yes for us requesting the butter. And the servers shouldn't have said yes if they did not understand my partner? They provided the bowl of butter near bread area till around 30mins later when he has finished his warm toast. They didn't even offer him the butter, they just left it there on the bowl. You would expect them to inform or hand him the butter asap at least? The pool bar did not have bottled drinks available so server had to walk to the sands bar On our last night, I woke up at 1:30am to the sound of drilling and hammering thinking it was the other resort's but rang guest services and was told they were sorry and shall tell the workers to stop. I mean..the least they could have done is informed guests that there might be some noise due to works being done? I have it all on video too and you can clearly hear the loud noise, even my other family members heard the loud noise. There was no sign to inform that we need our room cleaned or do not disturb. They served us ice while we were chilling by the beach to cool ourselves down but the ice my partner received had a mosquito in it.. just really disappointing and it was even caught on video.
Overall the resort is run down,it used to be great and I wished they performed well in customer service to make up for the run down rooms. We had chip dusts behind our TV on our first day which was still there...
Read moreWe had the best time at Discovery Boracay! From the moment we stepped out of the airport, we were warmly welcomed with their signature bracelets and a seamless private transfer—from van to speedboat—which instantly made us feel the Boracay charm.||Check-in was smooth, and we were pleasantly surprised by all the thoughtful touches: welcome cakes and pastries with our names on them, a personalized family photo frame in our room, and so many sweet surprises—from a kids’ tent setup to a happy birthday projector with banners and even towel cakes from the housekeeping team. A special shoutout to Mich, Melfe, and Fanny from housekeeping for making everything extra special. And of course, Leo San Jose from the Manila sales office really made sure that our stay would be the best—it was clear everything was thoughtfully arranged even before we arrived.||Pam and the whole reception team also deserve a huge thank you. They made sure we had a smooth check-in and check-out, and when I mistakenly thought our flight was at 3 p.m. instead of 2, they kept calling us to make sure we wouldn’t miss it. They even brought our check-out documents straight to the shuttle so we could leave immediately. How amazing is that? It just shows how much they care and think ahead for their guests.||During breakfast, the staff even sang happy birthday to Lucas and let him blow out a candle—it felt so personalized and heartfelt. With three kids, safety and comfort are our top priorities, and the lifeguards were amazing—always attentive, handing us fresh towels whenever we sat down, and ensuring we stayed hydrated by the pool and beach. One evening, we took a walk along the beach at night and noticed they were still keeping watch over us—it gave us so much peace of mind knowing they truly cared for our safety at all times.||The little luxuries really stood out: butlers offering Evian mist sprays, cold towels, cocktail bites, and even beach toys for the kids. We also loved the convenience of the shuttles to D’Mall. The food and drinks were excellent—the iced coffee was our favorite, and the kids were so happy that they could request hot chocolate anytime, even just before breakfast service ended.||This is truly the best hotel we’ve ever stayed at—not just because of the amazing amenities but more importantly, the outstanding service. Our kids even said they wanted to keep coming back, which says it all!||Overall, Discovery Boracay exceeded all expectations. Every detail was handled with so much care and thoughtfulness, making our family trip not just memorable but truly perfect. Highly recommended for families looking for a mix of luxury, warmth, and...
