Horrible experience. Doesn't live up to the hype.
It was drizzling. I decided to go ahead to get a table while my senior parents followed with my siblings. The restaurant wasn't busy when I arrived. I was standing on the restaurant proper just under the edge of the roof. Considering the type of establishment, I decided to wait until I was shown a table rather than storming in and just sitting at any table. I just stood there. Two servers saw me. I raised my hand, and I was ignored. When the rest of my family arrived, still no one approached us. My brother had to walk to the front desk of the hotel. The person said to sit "kahit saan/anywhere". So we went to go further in. Finally one of the waiters gestured to a table of four. We are five. All the free tables were square tables that seat 4. There were two empty tables still with plates and dishes. No one was making a move to clear those tables. It was only when Gerry, an employee, showed up that there was a sense of urgency to clear the bigger table, greet us, and give us menus.
The start of the evening was utterly horrible. I wanted to leave, but decided to stay as I didn't want my parents to walk any further.
We wanted a light dinner. We only ordered two dishes, 4 cheese pizza and gambasetti pasta.
The four cheese pasta had 2 chunks of blue cheese, a ton of mozzarella. I suppose the chunk per slice was either parmesan or cheddar. The chunk was unidentifiable - a soft slightly sweet cheese, neither the flavor profile of cheddar or parmesan. What a disappointment.
The gambasetti was full of flavor. But what flavor? Not paprika. It was salty and garlicky. The salty taste was reminiscent of maggi savor liquid seasoning. The dish tasted asian. I preferred the pasta to the pizza, but it was not what I expected.
We couldn't finish the pizza. Asked for it to be wrapped up. The forgot about. After settling the bill, we had to remind them of the pizza 10 minutes later.
Horrible food. Horrible service. Electric fans are great! You won't feel hot inside. Gerry was welcoming, but the rest of the staff...
Read moreThis was very hyped. Honestly, as someone who enjoys pizzas and has tasted alot of different types of pizza and has eaten at numerous pizzarias, BarLo's 4 cheese pizza (which alot of people are claiming to be super STELLAR!) is a total downer! An absolute flavor let down. It's nothing special, the cheese used on it tasted very mainstream and it felt cheap to the taste (considering how expensive and how small it was) It tasted like it was made by some amateur home business cook. The only other thing the pizza was good for was for IG food pics. Presentation wise the food looks great, but again food is supposed to taste good and looks are just secondary. Their oyster sisig was not bad but again, too much hype for something that you won't really crave for nor ask for another serving. The sisig was crunchy but as you eat, it becomes soggy and you can taste a very strong fishy after taste, which I wasn't a big fan (considering I tasted crocodile sisig which had a zero fishy after taste) We honestly enjoyed the fish and chips far better than the other 2 dishes that people were oh so clamoring about! Again, it's just hype. For the size and price, it sure is not worth it. You're probably paying that much for the restaurant's ambience rather for that food they serve. BarLo's ambience is great and they have an awesome view of the beach. So if you wanna chill and maybe enjoy some "Instagramable" food, go and check it out! But if it's great food you want, I wouldn't be coming...
Read moreWent to try the famous four cheese pizza and oyster sisig of Two Seasons Boracay and to celebrate the birthday of my daughter. There was no oyster pizza on a busy Friday and the four cheese pizza tasted bland. I feel like it was overhyped on social media. I actually also told the server that I find it bland and he said that its best paired with honey for a fee of Php 100.00.
Mid-eating my husband had a sudden stomach flu which we later found out was actually food poisoning and we asked if it was possible to lie down in their lounge chair which was in front of BarLo and one of their servers were very rude he said no and that if I want I should talk to their manager. I wanted to ask him something else but he left abruptly. I find the entire encounter super strange. On top of that, BarLo is an open area which is fine but it was super hot as they use warm light which makes the entire place super warm (Fronting the beach they still have this plastic covering their place with super bad looking entrance not fitting of their high-end status).
The only up-side about eating in BarLo is the server assigned to our table whose name is Gerry who took care of us despite having to serve so many tables and made sure my partner was okay...
