Short version: This hotel should be closed. Dont go here.
Longer version: When you step into hotel Trst you'll travel back in time. You'll be greeted by stale air and well, nothing else realy. When we got there the reception was empty and the rest of the place seemed to be abandoned. We waited for a while only to find a guestbook with terrible reviews and a note on the outside of the door (which we didn't see at first cause the door was open when we got there) telling us to go to a nearby hotel to check-in. So we took all of our luggage and went there. The girl at the reception was friendly but couldnt help telling us that our room was not yet ready, even though we arrived well after check-in time. She offered us free breakfast for the next day to make up for it. Having read the beforementioned guestbook, and I quote 'Breakfast was disgusting', we where quite interested to see for ourselves so we took the offer and waited for our room to be cleaned. What followed was us waiting for 10 minutes and cleaning ladys screaming their lungs out at eachother which was very awkward. We decided to go and get some lunch and come back later to check-in. When we finaly got to our room we where dissapointed to put it mildly. The fact that all the furniture is realy outdated wasn't even bothering us that much, it just wasn't clean. The carpet (which runs through the entire hotel) probably hasn't been cleaned properly since the 20th century and liturally all ceiling lights are filled with dust and dead flies. The bath, toilet and sink are filled with limescale and the joints in the tilework are moldy. The lowered ceiling in the bathroom was broken and looked like it would be coming down entirely any minute. There is no wifi and the TV barely works. We decided to just spent the least possible amount of time there. The next day we got our free breakfast at the other hotel, which was - maybe due to our very low expectations - actually quite allright. We payed more than €160 for two nights at Hotel Trst making this officialy the worst price/quality rate we've ever experienced. Do yourself a favour and spent a litle more on another hotel. Hotel Trst should be closed until...
Read moreLike all the reviews prior to this one, we had to check in at a different Hotel. Not a problem, however our check in was supposed to be 2:00pm and we had to wait a further half an hour. Again not the biggest drama, however from here it got worse. The girl at reception at the other hotel was lovely though. ||||We had to then walk our heavy luggage down a hill and try and cross a busy road twice (as the footpath runs out on the side of the Hotel) and the road was very busy with tourist traffic and this was hard with lots of bags. Dont know how people with kids do it. ||||We finally entered the Hotel and the elevator was out of order. My poor husband had to carry the heavy suitcases up 5 flights of stairs in 35 degree heat (hope you're not disabled or have kids in a pram as there is no facility to accommodate this). ||||Got to the room. Really outdated (which we dont mind as it is allegedly a 3 star Hotel) but it was filthy. Floor had not been vacuumed and there were hairs all over the floor and toilet. The bathroom has no shower door on one side and because the room is so tiny, water goes everywhere so we used a lot of towels to soak it up. No hand towels or bath mats. And our bathroom leaked from the sink tap so there was water everywhere. ||||So there was no air con (and it was the middle of that heat wave and it was stuffy and bloody noisy with the window open). Also the fridge wasnt turned on so the breakfast stuff we had bought had to sit in a hot fridge until it cooled down. No tea, coffee, glasses, cutlery etc. ||||The following morning we put the tag on the door to have the room cleaned. We returned at 5pm that evening and the room hadnt been made up. We simply helped ourselves to towels in a store room. I tried calling reception and some voicemail in Slovenian said something, god knows. ||||So basically, I've never made a review before but the Hotel was that bad that it was called for. Its barely a 1 star and god forbid you have children, are disabled or simply like...
Read moreEntire hotel is tired and in need of a makeover. Our room was ok - everything worked but again, was very dated. Carpets throughout are threadbare and/or stained. ||Housekeeping was lax - there was a toothbrush left behind on our handbasin in the bathroom and hand soap was never filled up even though it was already empty when we arrived. We were also not given any hand towels one day and on another we were only given one bath towel. it would have remained that way except that we were able to catch up with housekeeping on their way out and they advised us that they were waiting on fresh ones to come from the laundry. One was by our door when we got back from our lunch. ||||The reception area is unmanned and as a consequence you need to lock and unlock the front door of the hotel every time you enter or leave. Also, to check-in and check-out you have to go up the road about 100 metres to the hotel jadran. We were not advised of this prior to our arrival and only found out due to signs posted on the front door. There is nowhere to securely leave luggage so either you have to lug all of your luggage up the road and then back again or one person stays behind. ||||Wifi is not available in the rooms. There is a modem/router near the lift entry. It was not even plugged in when we arrived. ||||There is a noisy bar next door which can be disruptive to sleep, especially in summer as there is no air conditioning so windows need to be open. ||||Overall, it is very basic - beds were comfy and bathroom functioned well. It was basically just a place for us to sleep - we spent most of our time out and about enjoying the...
