My boyfriend and I loved our stay at the amazing Vila Gorenka - we stayed for 4 nights in the middle of August and were fairly late booking it. Having stayed at Bled before in an AirBnB, I already knew how expensive Bled can be for eating out - and I didn't realise at the time of booking that this place had a kitchen. The kitchen is outside the main building in a converted garage and fully equipped (currently no oven, just a hob), even with a dishwasher, available for all guests to use 24/7. Janez the owner even leaves out free cereal, milk and fruit for guests to help themselves for breakfast. There is seating inside the kitchen area and outside and the owner should take advantage of taking photos of the new kitchen ASAP as it is a real selling point - we managed to save lots of money whilst travelling by eating at the Vila instead of eating out all the time. The bedroom we had was a twin room and unfortunately because we were late to book we didn't have a lake view room but this didn't bother us too much. The room was spacious and had a sink (no soap though) with a mirror in - only negative thing with the room was that the bed squeaked every time you moved and so if you are a light sleeper then bring some ear plugs! We had a shared bathroom instead of an ensuite deal and so the toilet was one end of the corridor and the shower room was at the other. In our time being there, we never had a problem with using the shower/toilet when we wanted too and hence didn't find the shared bathroom thing a big deal. Without a doubt, the best thing about Vila Gorenka is the excellent location to the lake - within 2 minutes you are at the lake side!! This place currently has lots of negative reviews - but I couldn't recommend it highly enough, and when we return to Bled in the not so distant future, this place will definitely be our first...
Read moreMy fiancee and I decided to take a spontaneous trip to Bled and booked a room with a double bed at Vila Gorenka. Upon arrival we rang the bell and were greeted by an older gentleman who simply said hello, without a word we were walked into the kitchen "reception" where all three of us sat quietly. We handed him our passports and again he continued to say nothing which we felt was unusual and unwelcoming. We then were shown to our room and my fiancee and I exchanged looks about the low quality of the whole house and the room. As we began to unpack our belongings we heard from the room across the hall someone practicing violin, and throughout the rest of the day there seemed to be more rooms with violinist practicing. The owner never told us about the other rooms, or even said a word about it. These people play their instruments from 8 in the morning until 10 in the evening. On our first morning we were woken up by the violin playing rather unpleasantly. And around 11am while we were getting ready for our day (we slept in because the beds were very uncomfortable and couldn't sleep well) the owner tried to enter the room without even knocking and we yelled that we were inside and he left. After our day of fun we returned to have a quick shower and relax before leaving for the evening, again the owner tried to enter without knocking and his excuse was that "most of his guests are more open" but that's not normal. Overall the state of the building is dismal, the hospitality is minimal, and the whole experience has been rather bad. The only reason it gets a review higher than 1 star is that we were able to book a room rather...
Read moreNot Worth the Money||My husband and I arrived at Vila Gorenka around 1am due to very bad congestion at the borders (Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia). Upon arrival we rang the bell and waited until we were greeted by an unfriendly and rude older man who simply said hello while my husband attempted to shake his hand, he continue to walk to show where to park. We walked into the house and he asked for our passports then he showed us the room. I decided to take a shower, there was no soap and the towel stank. Very early in the morning, because the room was by the entrance, we're woken up by the people walking out making so much noise. I told the owner about the problems mentioned above, he didn't even apologise, actually, he totally ignored it. We were supposed to stay another night, but we decided to cancelled. Overall the state of the building is dismal, the hospitality was nonexistent and the whole experience was bad. The only reason it gets 1 star is that there is no less than that. Charging 130€ for a room without breakfast, amenity and the towels were old and stinky. It's a total rip off. ||||Ps: We forgot a expensive bottle of shampoo in the bathroom, went back to pick it up, the man/owner didn't go check, stating right away that he didn't find anything. What do...
