Vila Lipa — Hotel in Bled

Upon arrival I was greeted by Anja, who was friendly and enthusiastic to provide recommendations and general advice on how to best see the place and its hidden gems.||The room was clean, 10/10 in that regard, the bed was comfy and my room had a private balcony attached which only enhanced the experience.||The location is literally a 3 minute walk from lake Bled if you walk briskly, 5 minutes at a relaxed pace.||The following day I met Špela, another member of staff who I asked for help with a proposed plan to see Triglav national park. Špela was not only willing to help, but went above and beyond, asking me what my interests are and helping me to create a 1-day itinerary which ended up being the best experience of my entire trip. Špela did not have to help to this extent, but she seemed to really love my enthusiasm to discover the place and matched that enthusiasm completely.||The following day I decided I could not leave the place yet, and Anja once again understanding and accommodating, helping me to extend my stay over the phone, providing recommendations of places to see at every turn. Was driving from abroad, roughly 440 km far away after a Friday working day, which ended at 15:30. Previously informed the host by e-mail about the circumstances and difficulties might appear during our trip with regards the strict arrival time of 20:00. We reached AT-SL border at 20:20 and circa 25 mins was left to arrive to the apartment in Bled. The host phoned us right after passing the border saying that he cannot wait anymore. There was no adequate answer to my question why. Additionally, he showed no flexibility, was refusing to wait for us any more time. Then ironically he was hoping that we can find an other accommodation (at night) and said good bye. All in all we were not able to check-in, since his interpretation was that we were late and finally slept in the car. In this COVID-19 time, reintroduced border control, coming from hundreds of kms far away, raining during the trip in Slovenia, we definitely think we were not treated well as guests. The host refused to refund us for the night we paid before. According to our experiences this host and his apartment is not recommended and we are convinced that it is better to avoid, since it is not guest...
