Penzion Berc is a quiet, well-run, friendly family accommodation business just a 5 minute walk away from Lake Bled. On arrival we immediately noticed the well-tended gardens with blooming flowers. It’s a well-oiled machine and all of the staff know what they are doing. ||We stayed in a Superior Double room which isn't the most luxurious accommodation being a touch rustic but it is keenly priced and clean and offers a very good stay. There was a coffee machine and daily topped up cookies in the room which is a nice touch.||The Penzion organised a transfer from Ljubljana airport for us which was helpful. As we were too early to check-in on arrival, they had an area to store our bags whilst we went out an explored the lake.||We dined in their restaurant on the Saturday night and I can recommend the tasty Argentinean Ribeye steak and also the tuna steak. The mashed potato was also delicious. The restaurant is closed on a Sunday and they recommended the Old Cellar Bled which was also very good.||Breakfast was well run with a good selection of items and set us up for the day of exploring. We used their free electric bikes on Sunday morning and cycled to Radovljica (20km roundtrip). We preferred to walk around the Lake than use the bikes but if you’re short on time then the bikes could be...
Read moreWe had a lovely dinner at Penzion Berc. The service was absolutely impeccable and they were really kind to assist us with the food choice as we both eat gluten-free, we were sent a complimentary starter from the chef accompanied with gluten free bread that was a really pleasant surprise :) We shared one Mixed salad with seafood that included grilled seabass, octopus and prawns, it was big enough for the two of us. For main course we chose Onion Steak and I had Chicken breast stuffed with walnuts and truffles, both dishes were absolutely delicious and wonderfully presented. The Wine list is quite long and offers many options to accompany your meal, all vines are also served by glass so you can test several of the local vines - we had whites - Pinela and Rebula. Unfortunately the weather was cold and rainy to sit on a table outside but they have a lovely garden with lots of beautiful flowers. The only small disadvantage was that there wasn't any gluten-free dessert option in their menu to finish our dinner with, but yet, it's not a gluten-free restaurant so we cannot expect that. Our dinner cost around 80 euros but totally worth every cent and next time we visit Bled we'll have a dinner again here if we manage to get reservation as the place gets quite busy...
Read morePenzion Berc is a warm and cozy place well worth visiting when in Bled. We booked with Luka, and the process was seamless. I learnt Luka and his family have run their family business for decades, and the seamless process from our stay in Penzion and experience in Garni only proves their family's business legacy in excellence. I very much appreciated the immediately warm and cozy family environment and its perfect and "strictly" Slovenian cuisine and hospitality. "Strictly" in a sense that all products this B&B offers are locally and carefully sourced. My husband and I travelled to Bled to experience the lake, ride a pletna boat to visit Church, and experience the town. During our stay, Penzion had all amenities needed to create the best experience to see Bled-- those who worked at Bled were warm and friendly, eBikes were readily available for our stay, and an outstanding breakfast buffet is available every morning (literally the best breakfast during our visit!). The rooms had just the right finishing touches to make the experience memorable-- fresh baked cookies, cold beverages, and a balcony with a view and ambience at par to any Four Seasons...
