PENSIÓN Colmenero — Hotel in Barcelona

When I first arrived, the owner did not speak English and refused to buzz me up to the unit. Fortunately, another resident of the building was able to open the door for me and I was able to get to the front door. I rang the door bell and waited, no response. I rang it again, this time a dog started barking, and waited again. It took me about 5 minutes to access the "hotel." When I got in, the place smelled like smoke and the owner, an old, not so nice, woman, who smelled like alcohol, told me to sit down and wait and complained that I rang the doorbell three times. I sat, and waited for 15 minutes and she mentioned that she was inconvenienced because I didn't show up at the correct time to check-in. I showed up at 4pm and the communication I received said to arrive between 3PM-10PM. Eventually, she begrudgingly got around to helping me and showed me the property which was dirty and uninhabitable. I couldn't stay there for longer than 5 minutes let alone a week. I gave her the keys back and asked for a refund, to which she said no. When I finally left I was relieved to get out of there, but needed to scramble to book another hotel. I asked around the local hotels but all were booked. So I was walking around Barcelona with all my luggage trying to find a place before night. Ho soggiornato assieme al mio ragazzo in questa struttura per una settimana, dal 23 al 30 settembre. Premetto che la scelta è stata quasi "obbligata", in quanto era uno dei pochi alberghi ancora disponibili con bagno in camera a cavallo della festività della Mercé.||La posizione è assolutamente strategica: a pochissimi metri dalla fermata della metro "Liceu" (linea verde, L3), dalla Rambla, dal supermercato Carrefour, dalla Basilica di Santa Maria del Pi e dal mercato della Boqueria. Se siete fortunati, alcune domeniche del mese potrete assistere al mercato dei pittori nella piazzetta attinente alla Basilica, un'ambientazione che ricorda quasi la Montmartre parigina in miniatura.||Le camere di questa struttura si affacciano direttamente su Calle de Petritxol, la via del cioccolato in cui potrete gustare torroni, cioccolatini, biscotti e ottime colazioni presso le pasticcerie "Granja Pallaresa" e "Dulcinea" (quest'ultima frequentata anche da personalità del calibro di Dalì). Tenete presente che per questi motivi la via è sempre affollata e rumorosa, anche a tarda notte.||Non è possibile effettuare il check-in prima delle 14:00; tuttavia Rosa, la proprietaria, cerca di essere disponibile per il deposito bagagli anche ad altre ore della giornata. Non esiste un indirizzo e-mail per poter comunicare con la struttura, solo un numero fisso: molti siti di prenotazioni, come lo stesso Booking, possono comunicare direttamente alla proprietaria l'ora di arrivo, in modo tale da poterla trovare in casa ad accogliervi. ||Le camere sono molto spartane, buone soltanto per turisti davvero esperti che sappiano adattarsi: personalmente avevo prenotato una doppia con bagno in camera, la stanza era grande ed abbastanza accogliente nella sua semplicità. Purtroppo la pulizia non è il massimo in questa struttura, in una settimana non sono mai state cambiate le lenzuola anche se evidentemente macchiate a causa di una piccola perdita di sangue dal naso, un paio di volte è stato passato il mocio a terra e sono stati cambiati gli asciugamani. La stessa proprietaria, non appena arrivati, ha messo subito in chiaro che a causa della festa della Mercé non avrebbe effettuato le pulizie nel weekend, quindi o ci adattavamo o ci adattavamo.||La connessione wi-fi è buona soltanto nelle aree comuni, ovvero un piccolo salottino con un tavolo e due sedie all'ingresso della struttura e nel patio centrale dell'albergo: non provate a connettervi dalle camere, perderete solo tempo e pazienza in quanto il segnale molto blando si interrompe non appena spostate anche solo una mano.||||Nel complesso la struttura merita tre punti su cinque, proprio perchè si trova nel cuore del Barrio Gotico ed è molto comoda per gli spostamenti in...

The location is really great and central. However (and I feel bad for saying that since the owner works hard to run the hotel), if you want some comfort and rest, you should stay elsewhere. We had the “biggest & nicest” room at this hostel with the private bathroom. Our shower hook was broken and to take a shower, you would have to hold the shower head the entire time. We complained to the owner and got the typical “Manana” response. Needless to say it was never fixed. Also, it wasn’t draining very well and would overflow if you didn’t pay attention and turn it off in time to let it drain.
