We stayed at Elite for two nights in mid of June 2016. It is very centrally located and at very short distance from the Zermatt main station, the Gornergrat station and the town main street. It has several eateries around. The Klein Matterhorn station is about 15 min walk away. Mrs Grand is very helpful and speaks good English. They also give you complementary pickup and drop to the Zermatt railway station if you need (I had called them, since I did not get email responses). Breakfast spread is sufficient. Rooms are just about the right space and are clean. Bathroom was huge and well maintained.
One tip: If you come in the summers, the sunlight is there till 9pm. But most shops and restaurants close early, by 6:30pm-7:30pm. So, you need to plan your dinner outside accordingly (since Elite doesn't have dinner services). You may get deceived with time if you only rely on daylight. Also, the room heater in Elite is automatically set to heat up when the temperature drops to freezing point. But if it is around 8-9 deg C, it may not heat up the room. So, if you are a warm place creature, be ready to wrap yourselves in an additional blanket at night.
Overall, a pretty good hotel with good...
Read moreWe stayed at this hotel last summer (2024) and really enjoyed it. The hotel arranged a small electric cab to pick us up, since the town is car-free. You can also walk from the station. It’s not too far and the hotel’s right in the center, so everything’s within walking distance. We booked the "Roof Junior Suite with Matterhorn view," which was on the top floor. The elevator only goes up to the floor below, so we had to carry our big suitcases up a flight of stairs, but the room was worth it, cozy with a cabin vibe, a comfy bed, a soft pull-out for two, and a nice Jacuzzi. We had a good view of Matterhorn when there were no clounds. Breakfast was included in our reservation and served in a small area on the first floor, simple but good. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Just a heads-up: the front desk closes during lunch and at night, so if you check in late, they leave your keys with instructions. They also have a storage room if you need to leave bags after checkout. I’d definitely recommend this place. Like most Swiss hotels in summer, it was on the...
Read moreWow what a great hotel and fantastic team of people. We visited for what was supposed to be 5 nights but extended to 8 because flights to the UK were all cancelled. This happened 2 times for us and of course a major concern was ‘where can we stay?’ |The Elite team of Marianne and Annalena always took our stress level down and provided us with a calm ‘don’t worry you will be OK’ and offer to help with ‘anything’. They even discounted the cost for the extra nights which makes us feel forever loyal to this hotel and these people. |We had a lovely junior suite with a view of the Matterhorn and this room is gorgeous with a lovely balcony - living area - great TV channel selection - nice big bathroom with giant shower. We also enjoyed the breakfast room and a very nice lady serving there. |So all in all we could not recommend the Elite more and we have found our ‘home’ in Zermatt which we visit most years. |Happy New Year Marianne...
