Hotel Excelsior — Hotel in Zermatt

We checked into Excelsior fm 18-21/Aug/2023. The staffs in this hotel were at their best service from the moment we stepped into this hotel. Kristina. K, who manages the reception. She was awesomely helpful. She ensured we, their guests, received her best attention. And she goes beyond her duty. Adrian & Lara, both manages the F&B in the hotel, they worked non stop during breakfast. Ensuring Coffee and buffet spread are available. They came by providing table service as well. Paula/ Peter/Lara, extremely diligent in their house keeping. One thing I must add, their laundry service I rated them 10/5. Super fast! I gave my clothes at 1pm and it was washed, cleaned and returned to us before 4pm, same day. Honestly, I have never had this kind of service in a 5 or 6 stars hotels. This year in Zermatt for the first time I chose Hotel Excelsior to start my snowboarding season in November. I will definitely do that again next year because of a few reasons: the location is perfect because the cable car to the glacier is only a short walk from the hotel. And within a 2 minutes walk you are in what I consider the most beautiful part of the center of Zermatt. Train station is 5 minutes walk. No cab or bus is needed. The rooms are absolutely fine (I had the cheapest room but the view in the morning over the mountains was awesome), the breakfast is really good (it is also a beautiful breakfast room completely panelled with wood up to the ceiling) , and the staff and management is super friendly and helpful. This is an "average" hotel per Zermatt standards. This is not a pejorative statement. Just realistic considering the price of hotels in Zermatt. The location is perfect.|Overall we had an excellent stay. Very friendly welcome, nice large room with a clean bathroom a bit small. However, we were supposed to have a mountain view on our reservation and we did not. |Breakfast was a buffet style which offer could be improved. We had one dinner at the restaurant and it was good.
