I stayed four nights at the hotel in a Standard Double Room. I was upgraded from a Single Room. The room I stayed in was very nice and bright, and had a nice balcony. I also enjoyed the fridge to put drinks and snacks. The staff at the hotel are very nice and welcoming. I booked through the hotel directly, and took advantage of the ride service from the train station. The hotel is about a five minute flat walk from the train station (follow the Gorgergrat train tracks then turn right), but has a flight of stairs to the entrance. My GPS didn't work when I arrived at the train station so I didn't know where the hotel was to walk. At the train station they have hotel telephone that you can call the hotel to get the ride. ||The hotel has amazing views of the Matterhorn from the terrace. The breakfast is nice with omlets included and the Matterhorn view. The dinner is fantastic. I recommend eating at the hotel for dinner. The four course meal is excellent quality and a lot of food. ||I was lucky and had great weather for all five days. I went up to all three mountains (Gorgergrat, Matterhorn Glacier Paradise, and Rothhorn) and highly recommend all of them. They are all different. I also got up at sunrise and took some amazing photos of the mountain from the hotel terrrace. I found Zermatt to be super touristy on the main street, but this hotel was a nice oasis and in a great location. I would...
Read moreThis hotel is a family owned and work family staffed classical Swiss hotel. It has a limited number of rooms - about 25 (?). It is a few minutes walk to a ski shop with a discount for hotel guests with equally excellent expert equipment and service. Minutes walk from the ski lift. Our room was renovated, clean and cosy on the 4th floor with a slanted ceiling and a balcony giving us a DIRECT and spectacular view of the Matterhorn - see photos. The breakfast and dinners in the restaurant are delicious and attended by friendly and homey professional staff. Ski room had boot warming racks for everyone, spa area (indoor swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi) was very relaxing, clean and neat. They had all the personal touches added, including a complementary 4 minute electric taxi ride to the station with a little bag of Zermatt-made cheese and sparkling water bottles for the just under 4h train ride back to Geneva airport - spectacular views on the way. We...
Read moreWhilst the mountains are the highlight of any visit to Zermat, the Hotel Metropol and Spa is the perfect place to make your time in Zermatt simply amazing. The hotel is a gem, unpretentious, professional and most importantly warm and inviting. Without exception the staff are equal to any hotel I’ve stayed in with the two ladies, Yvonne and Stephanie, both simply amazing as were the ladies at both breakfast and dinner. The location is simply amazing, right in the centre of town though secluded and peaceful at the same time. However, now to the main prize, the view of the Matterhorn from sun up to sundown, from my bed, from my balcony, whilst at breakfast and dinner be it on the terrace or in the restaurant…it is as good as it gets.if you are heading to Zermatt and unsure as to where to stay…this is the place!
The photos, 6.00am from my bed, 6.50 am from my balcony, 7.30 am breakfast on the terrace, 7.00pm dinner on the...
