The hotel itself isnāt bad - the lobby is stylish, the furniture is good, and everything looks nicely done - but there are several points that spoiled our overall impression.
We stayed here for 15 days, and hereās what we noticed:
The chef in the kitchen. Maybe we were just unlucky, but there was one chef who prepared omelettes with clear dissatisfaction, often leaving them undercooked inside - but only for foreign guests. Turkish guests were let through without queueing, and their food was cooked with noticeably more care and time compared to what he served to English and Russian guests.
The same chef, working as a waiter in the afternoon, told us we had to pick up our own take-away orders, even though another waiter on a different day said they always offer a service where they bring food directly to your room on plates, not in melted containers from overheated pasta.
Other than that, the restaurant was quite good, with tasty food - we especially recommend the paella.
Room cleaning. This was the most uncomfortable part of our stay. Cleaning happens at random times over a 5-hour window. Once, when we were in the room resting after the previous day and had hung the āplease cleanā sign, the cleaner came in. I told her we were about to leave, she said āOK, OKā and left - but never came back for another 2 hours. On other days, when we decided not to go to the beach in the morning, we ended up waiting in the lobby for 4-5 hours, as it felt like our room was being ignored - they cleaned everything around it but skipped ours.
Still, we strongly recommend you donāt skip cleaning days.
Ants. In this region, ants are common, and 1ā2 might crawl in by accident - we understand that. But when we woke up one morning and saw about 70 of them in the bathroom, we went to reception to suggest using some insecticide or other method to get rid of them. Our requests were ignored, and no measures were taken during the entire stay. We had to deal with it ourselves - buying products and flushing them away with water.
Internet. Another big downside that affected our trip and even caused extra expenses was the internet. The signal didnāt reach our room at all, and even in places where the Wi-Fi bars were full, the speed was extremely slow - about 1GB downloaded in 1.5 hours. Because of this, online work that could have been done in an hour ended up taking days.
Other minor issues. There were smaller problems too, like the air conditioner blowing directly onto the bed (we caught colds by the end of the stay) and a jacuzzi where parts kept falling off.
Overall: The hotel has potential and some nice aspects, but several service and maintenance issues really affected our experience. We think a fair rating would be 2...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFantastic week at the Karbelsun - The staff were all superb , so helpful and always smiling and courteous- they work extremely hard and long hours to ensure your stay is one to remember . The location at the top of the strip is great - if you want that side of Oludeniz it is on your doorstep but also located near the quieter part of town which had lovely restaurants along the back streets and plenty of shops , bars and supermarkets. Once in the hotel you would not know you were on the strip - the room was very good ,we chose a standard twin superior, not massive but big enough , very comfy beds , great aircon . Balconies in the standard rooms are small but enough for a few chairs. The larger rooms had much bigger balconies if you are booking one of them and can have extra large superior rooms . Breakfast was excellent with a huge choice every day. Also ate at the hotel one evening and lunchtime and that also was lovely and reasonably priced. Plenty of comfy sunbeds with big thick comfy cushions and also a toweling cover and umbrellas and pleased to say no fighting for the sunbeds , there were always sunbeds available. Easy walk to the front and beach Recommend you go to the lagoon beach clubs - and also the beach on the nature reserve Entertainment we saw in the in the hotel was great too..Highlight also was a trip to Kayacoy 15 minutes away in a taxi or a bus to Hisaranou and then to Kayacoy or through your travel agent. Old ghost town but lovely small village with mix of traditional cafes restaurants - totally different experience, Mehmet the lovely manager in the restaurant and his staff work so hard to please the staff. Special thanks also to the 2 Samets , Suat, Erol , Sila , Teoman on reception/front of house and our lovely cleaner who never failed to help with our queries and questions and keep our room so clean. It was a pleasure to meet you all . Thank you for making our stay so memorable. The only negative is I had to...
