First impression of the hotel: on the smaller side, with two blocks of rooms at either side of the pool. Clean and well presented entrance and reception. Quick check in (copied passports and issued our key cards) and cases were taken to our room. We were on the ground floor so I didn’t notice if there were any lifts. Building is 3 stories high (at the most). Safety deposit boxes available for a charge (think it was about £10 for 11 nights). Air con is available free of charge (July/Aug - you’ll need it!). |Breakfast|It is self service and typically Turkish, with meats, cheeses and fruit/vegetables (the oranges were gorgeous). There are options for toast and preserves, including honey/marmalade and chocolate spread, hard boiled/fried eggs/pancakes (on request), plus muesli and cereals, with a couple of hot items, such as spicy hotdog like sausages and cheese and ham pastries (which were quite nice!). The pool bar offers a full English breakfast at an extra cost but we never had it as the offered selection, although not usual for us, did have enough choice. Unlimited tea/coffee and juice. We don’t have any dietary requirements so didn’t note if there were options for GF lactose intolerance etc. |Room (402) |The rooms are simply furnished, but clean and well maintained, and I found the beds and pillows very comfortable. Maid service was available everyday if required and can be specified using an electronic panel inside the room (click on icons to indicate DND/cleaning etc). The room keys are electronic cards and these are slotted into a socket for the room electrics to run. Our balcony on the ground floor was quite small and facing a wall of an adjacent building, but they had plants and ornaments to try and improve the view. We only used it for drying washing so no great issue. There was a concertina style rack for towels etc. |Bathroom (internal)|Ours was a walk in shower with ceiling mounted head and also corded shower head, good flow and always plenty of hot water. The only thing I would say is that the soil pipe for all above us was hidden in one of the walls, so we could hear water running at times and initially I had to check we hadn’t left the tap on! Large sink and mirror with hairdryer and shaving point. Toilet with bidet facility. There is also a small fridge in the room. Only 2 electrical sockets in our room, one on one side of the bed and the other next to the dressing table, so take adapters/extension cable for your electronics. |The pool area|Good sunbeds, tables and parasols and plenty of them. Part of the pool area starts off in shade but by 11am the sun has come round and all areas have it. One large pool with a depth ranging from 0.90m to 1.9m with easy access via large stone steps or metal ladder at the side. Small pool (0.40m) with 2 jacuzzi like jets (not too strong) for children or just dipping. The pool area is clean and well maintained, I didn’t notice any cracked tiles and the surroundings are well kept. They play music around the pool, but not too loudly and it gets turned off when the pool closes at 7pm. There is a large TV behind the bar, usually showing sporting events. There is a free full size pool table too. |The bar is well stocked and open from 11am to usually midnight. It serves a good selection of light meals, snacks and ice creams. Slightly more expensive than outside the hotel (£1-2), but you pay for the convenience. ||There is a bookcase with plenty of books in an array of languages and I added mine to the collection, plus board games and packs of cards. There’s a small kids play area at the front of the hotel (swing, small slide) and they have a pushchair and a push along trike for guest use. People have left airbeds/rings/pool noodles and these are available to use and are kept near the pool toilets. As far as I am aware, the hotel don’t provide towels for the pool, but you can buy them cheaply enough locally. There are steps between communal areas (such as dining hall and reception) but there are also slopes and handrails for accessibility ||Overall, I rate this hotel 4 out of 5. It is a smaller hotel but it is nicely kept and has everything for a good relaxing break. It’s just round the corner from the main strip, 10 minutes from the main beach (25 mins from the lagoon) there is a local bus stop right outside and the taxi rank is 2 minutes away. Two supermarkets and a pharmacy within a 2 minute walk. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The bar man is good to chat to and a source of local knowledge. We didn’t have any issues whilst we were there and if we went back, would stay here again. ||I would suggest you take more sunscreen that you think you’ll need, as July/august is very hot and sunscreen is very expensive - we bought Nivea F30 from Azda and it was 1,999 Turkish Lira (£35!!) didn’t realise at...
Read moreA very detailed (and long sorry) review which I feel inclined to write as the number of 5 star ratings is just misleading people (including me when I booked). I’ll be honest it only just made the 3 rating I’ve put. Here’s why:||Upon arrival (12:30am), a lovely receptionist showed us to our room. It didn’t quite live up to the pictures on the website (but what hotel actually does!) The air-con was already on (which was a great relief from the hot Turkish evening air) and it’s free for the duration of your stay which is really great. The balcony light didn’t work, but it was a small balcony so we knew we wouldn’t be using it. ||We were asked if we needed a safe but we declined. We hid all of our expensive items in our locked suitcase just in case. ||We’d had a long day so nipped over to the supermarket on the corner and picked up a packet of crisps and a bottle of water. ||When we walked back into the hotel, the receptionist calls us over and says “we don’t allow outside food or drink into the rooms, but I’ll allow it today as it’s late”.||Now I understand not having outside food/drink around pool areas during the day, but in the room? That’s not acceptable, especially when the hotel food/drinks are about 50% more expensive than shops. From that point on, we had to sneak food/drinks into the room via a backpack and then hide it in our suitcases because we had been told by other guests that if cleaners find food/drink, they report it to the receptionists who then “fine” you and you’ll find that out when you come to leave and they present you with a bill. ||This also stands for food/drink you do purchase at the hotel. It goes onto a tab and so make sure you write down what you order as quite often they’ll add a drink or two on. ||Breakfast at this hotel is actually quite decent. It’s a Turkish breakfast and has lots of processed meats, breads and cheese to choose from. There’s a toaster and periodically they’ll include eggs, sausages, beans, potatoes and pancakes (only one of these at a time though). If you want a cooked breakfast at the hotel it’ll cost you 350TL (about £7.80). You can get it much cheaper at restaurants outside of the hotel. ||The restaurant also plays music whilst eating breakfast which is a mood killer. It’s depressing piano music which genuinely brings the whole atmosphere down. ||In terms of the staff, the pool/bar/restaurant staff were superb. They were friendly, very helpful and a credit to the hotel. They wander around during the day and ask you (but don’t pressure you) if you want any drinks/food then they bring it to you. ||Reception staff were good but if you have a query or request, you need to ask about 2 times before they’ll action it (I got my 2nd pillow on day 3).||Now onto the housekeeping staff. Absolutely pointless that the hotel even pay them! They do the absolute minimum. The shower was dirty on arrival (mould) and in the 10 days, our floor was not hoovered/mopped once. The bedding was changed once and all they do every day is make the beds and empty the main rubbish bin. They don’t always change the bathroom bin which is a bit grim as you have to put the toilet tissue in there due to Turkey’s inadequate sanitary systems. They do make sure you have 2 toilet rolls every day though. ||This hotel was by far the worst housekeeping experience I’ve had in my 20 years of holidaying as an adult and it really needs to improve. ||The pool is what makes this hotel. It’s a really lovely pool area. It’s clean, it’s big and there are always plenty of sunbeds (although on busy days, I’d recommend popping a towel onto a sunbed on your way to breakfast). They clean it every evening and the temperature is perfect to cool down during the very hot days! ||Now finally onto the smaller issues.||There’s no full length mirror in the room which is a bit of a pain when getting ready for the evening. ||The key to make the electric work was a bit temperamental at times. ||Stool in room was broken. ||In terms of location. The hotel is in an ideal place, close to the main road in and out of Oludeniz and an 8 minute walk to the beach (less if you walk a bit quicker). The actual area of Oludeniz was lovely! We would absolutely return (but not to Belcehan Beach Hotel). ||I’d recommend booking a boat trip from one of the many places that offer if (don’t book via your holiday company as they book the boat trips which are a 1.5/2hr coach...
Read moreThis was our first mother and daughter holiday to Turkey, and it turned out to be one of our best ever holidays. We are so pleased that we picked the Belcehan Hotel (also goes under the name of Belcehan Deluxe Hotel) which can be a bit confusing when looking at reviews. The Belcehan Hotels are all family run and it was good to see the owner, his wife and young baby joining guests for breakfast.||Our room (103) was just below the ground floor with easy access to the restaurant, bar and pool area. It was very spacious with a great sized bathroom and shower and plenty of storage and space in the bedroom. I had specifically requested a lower ground floor room with twin beds in advance and my request was met (thank you). The room was spotlessly clean with the beds made up every day with a daily change of towels and cleaning. We had a small balcony with a table, 2 chairs and an airer to dry our clothes. It was close to the air conditioning fan so our small amount of washing/beach towels/costumes etc. were soon dry. ||Pool and bar area|What a lovely pool (there were 2 one was a whirlpool/child’s pool) – these were kept spotlessly clean and were never too busy. The main pool has steps at one side that you could sit in and paddle/chat! The pool was surrounded on all sides by loungers and side tables with the bar and food area close to hand. The food from the bar area (we had toasties and wraps from here at lunchtime – which the waiters brought over from the Belcehan Restaurant piping hot) were very well presented with the addition of onion rings, salad, chips and dips. We were also served soft drinks and milk shakes and a freezer with ice creams etc. was close to hand. All the food was reasonably priced. There was also a pool table which was under a cover from the sun as was the area that you could eat and drink. ||Alcohol was also available with non local alcohol being a little more expensive than the local drinks. The milk shakes and the cocktails were delicious and they did special ones for the children. ||The bar staff along with the waiting staff were amazing and couldn’t do enough for us. Especially Hamdi and Furkan who kept us entertained along with the waiter who took a few pushes into the pool in good humour. ||Food – We stayed on a B&B basis and loved the selection available for breakfast. You could have fried or scrambled eggs, pancakes and omelettes made to your liking or choose from a variety of cooked meats, cheeses, olives and salad and fruit options. There was also a variety of breads, jams, honey and dips also yogurt and fruit compote to put on the yogurt, pancakes. Fresh fruit juices, tea and coffee were also available. ||Location |Ideally located at the top of the main ‘strip’ and very little noise other than the mosque. Taxi rank within very short walking distance and Dolmus stop at the other end of the street (approx. 4 mins walk) or 10 mins to main terminus near beach. Dolmus to Hisaronu (approx. every 7 mins) is 38tfl and same again if going on to Fethiye or Kayakoy (abandoned village). ||Thank you to everyone at the Belcehan for an amazing holiday, we hope to...
