We stayed one night here in July 2018, at the height of travel season. We chose this hotel because they allow pets, and they have a self-serve breakfast area. They also have an a outdoor pool, which we would have used had we not arrived late. Not sure if there is an indoor pool here. Our room was clean, comfortable, and well stocked with the usual amenitlies. It was located at the end of a corridor, near the door leading to the "doggie bathroom". A dispenser with bags for dog waste was provided, and guests obviously used them because the grounds were clean. The breakfast area was clean, and had a wide variety of food and beverages available, so one could choose a light & healthy breakfast or a hearty one. The employee who maintained the area was friendly and helpful. There were several restaurants in the surrounding area that provided delivery service, and we ordered a late dinner when we arrived. Don't remember if this hotel had a restaurant or not. There were two or three stands in the lobby, holding many travel brochures and booklets pertaining to this historic area. It made me want to plan a trip and come back just to see and experience them all. On note: This hotel was at full occupancy the night we stayed, so I'd highly recommend making reservations ahead of time if possible. I definitely recommend this hotel as a stopping point for travelers, whether for overnight or a one week's stay. Employees were courteous, knowledgeable, and accommodating. It is a well...
Read moreI would not stay at this Best Western. Though conveniently located off the highway and near a bunch of restaurants and shops, I was very disappointed in the quality of this Best Western. I've never had issues with other BWs. ||The room was HEAVILY fragranced to the point I developed both a headache and started to break out in hives. I tried to find if it was a plug in unit, even checking the AC unit to discover mold on the AC vents and caked dust on the AC unit filters. I was traveling with my dog and he was sneezing in the room. I had gone to reception to ask if all the rooms were this heavily scented and they were. I was not able to open a window to get any fresh air. ||The Pet Relief area was only accessible one-way. You'd have to go through the emergency exit but could not go back in the same way, you would have to walk all the way around to the front of the hotel and back again which is inconvenient. Plus the relief area is next to a busy roadway so if you have a skittish pet, this would not be ideal for them. ||There was also construction happening in the lobby that was not mentioned. Had to walk through an active construction are with a pet isn't ideal. This was not as big of an issue as the other items. I ended up checking out after 10 minutes and went down the street to the Candlewood Suites. Had a much better experience, cleaner room, no fragrance, and easier access to pet relief. Would not recommend staying at this...
Read moreFirst, there's a very strong scent of curry in the lobby and hallways, which I personally don't mind, but I realize some do. Thankfully the rooms don't smell like curry. The staff are nice, and the rooms are clean, albeit a bit small. Our suite was also advertised with a pullout couch, but it was just a regular sofa. Also the walls are pretty thin ( we stayed with my grandmother, a louder person, and I could hear her talking to my family halfway down the hall). The wifi is pretty bad, too. It'll just cut out randomly (will remain on and you'll stay connected, just say "internet is not available." A fix that worked for me was just turning off the wifi on my phone and turning it back on, but still an inconvenience). Also strange, but the electrical outlets didn't really work either. I had my phone plugged into one all night and it barely charged to 60%. The television is satellite, so you're not watching tv if there's a storm, and you'll have to rely on the spotty internet. The pool is kept clean, but is outdoors so, again, not an option during a storm. The beds are comfortable but if you're staying with more than 2 people, you'll have to decide who sleeps on the non-pullout sofa, which is almost like sleeping on the floor because of how hard it is. Probably not staying here again if...
