I have been to this establishment twice and due to a terrible experience opening week, I felt that giving the restaurant time to establish itself would possibly improve my initial experience. Sadly I was met with mediocre food, better service, but still a half baked atmosphere.
Service - I took my wife to the restaurant during opening week and we were met with a waitress who did not get to us until 10 minutes after sitting down. I had to get up to refill my water through out the meal and my wife was served the wrong food. we had ordered a yakisoba meal, but was served a pork ramen. The meal was taken back and the yakisoba was served to her within 10 minutes which is not too bad. The meal, while quick to come out, tasted soapy from cooking utensils not being properly dried. This meal was not eatable and not comped by the management. Not to mention they tried to have us pay for the incorrect meal. The icing on the cake is that the pen they gave me to sign the bill did not work so I had to use my own. The second time around I was happy to be waited on in a timely manor. There was a bit of a language barrier this time around but that really did not have an effect on the service till it came time to pay. The waiter did not know how to charge a visa giftcard and told me that my giftcard was "valued less" at this restaurant. I checked the balance and it was still at full value so I'm not sure what he meant but I was happy to pay and tip to get out of there.
Food - The Ramen is a great dish to try. I would recommend this to people but only togo. considering the soapy yakisoba from the first dining experience my expectations were low coming in a second time. I am not new to asian cuisine so when I found takoyaki on the menu I jumped at the chance. This appetizer was not cooked thoroughly and the octopus inside was extremely minuscule. Considering the soggy texture and small portion inside I give this dish a 1 star rating.
Atmosphere - This restaurant runs like a sit-in experience, with a childish essence, with no kids menu. The establishment has taped posters up that are one of two animes (DBZ or Naruto) giving it a feeling of a college dorm room. In this "dorm room" though, you'll find it to be drafty and impersonal. There is a remanence of the Fuddruckers that was at this location due to this open space, mirrors, and soda machines. This feels like a diner that is dim and confused. To top it off the music playing is a top 40's playlist of the last 10 years which adds to a modern diner feel, but contradicts the asian/anime aesthetic the restaurant should be leading with. Not to mention the adds after the songs really take you out of any atmosphere you were attaching to.
So write all this to not be a jackass but because i would love to see this place thrive. I had and still have high hopes for Naruto but with a few changes.
To me this establishment would benefit from dialing down the space used in the restaurant and focusing on one cohesive aesthetic or becoming a take out sushi/ramen bar. The music is a big element in any venue to help immerse your customers so choosing an anime themed playlist with a premium streaming service also goes a long way for a small price. The Dragon Ball Z pictures should be taken down since this restaurant is called Naruto. It just helps keep a cohesiveness to the whole atmosphere. The food is great considering the ramen and I'm sure some other selections but I would emphasis on making sure orders are correct and not soapy. I feel management should be more prevalent in their wait staff to ensure a great customer experience, and to help train new employees.
In all if you have kids who are open to trying new foods you may enjoy Naruto with them. Or if your a college kid who has a bit more to splurge one night. but as for a date night with your significant other I would not recommend this place until they are ready to decide what they...
Read moreVisited here for the first time with my family yesterday, the only one out of the four of us that had ever been before was my daughter and she was oh so excited for us all to experience the way cool time that she had when she visited with her friend and friends family. Once in the restaurant they ask you if you want hibachi or regular dining and we went specifically for the hibachi so they take you into a room with a bunch of flat top grills with chairs around them. Once the waiter promptly took our drink order and brought them out we ordered and then were joined by some other customers at our grill/table which was fine and it was also decent that the waiter did ask us it this was ok before sitting someone else with us. We then received our soup, salads, egg rolls and sushi rice rolls that we had ordered. This first course of our meal was tremendous introduced us to some new flavors that we had never tasted before. Once we were done with this course and some nice table conversation with our table partners the hibachi chef appropriately dressed of course came out with our uncooked food on a cart, figured out what each of us had ordered, introduced himself and then got started. I have to say very cool and probably one of the top five restaurant experiences that I have ever had in my entire life. If I knew how cool this was I would have went sooner. The chef flipped broccoli up onto the air for us to try to catch in our mouths and I caught mine on the first try, I know impressive right. His hand and spatula work was magnificent, my kids were mesmerized. I got steak, he asked me how I wanted it done which no restaurant seems to get right but he did and it was great. As a matter of fact all of the food was great, I ate to much and my kids also ate every bite of theirs and even some of their mothers and my son is usually a very picky eater. I tried to do the time we had justice with the pics I took but it was so much better than that. I can't say enough about our first time here at Sakura other than if you haven't tried it you should and we will be back. Thank you to the staff I wish I could remember your names, you guys were awesome thanks for...
Read moreMy wife and I were pretty excited to try this, menu looked good so we dined in and ordered, we all ordered at the same time my food and the kids food came out at a timely matter, however my wife’s food which was a ramen soup, took over an hour people that came in after us ordered ate and left while we were waiting our server which was good had told us that the kitchen kept losing my wife’s soup after the 3rd time she said she’s sorry and if we’d like it off our tab we agreed to do that she came back and told us it was taken care of and she apologized, she also said that because of the inconvenience the meal was going to be given to her for the long wait for free, she went back and adjusted our tab and here comes the lady manager we are assuming and asked what’s wrong with our food I tried to explain but didn’t get half way of what happened and she said ok I have it ready I bring it to you you want here or to go and we said if it’s ready then might as well here… my wife got excited and said finally, she ate some and asked for a Togo container and we told the server we were ready to go so she goes back and the manager or that lady that has the iPad added the food back to the tab…. This experience was so bad. We had a similar incident at another Asian restaurant and they handled it well and went over and gave us credit and a free dessert… this Sakura/Naruto place for this reason we will not come back thanks for making our first time there a bad no wait a...
