Went to dinner with a friend at this establishment about 2 weeks ago. The food was fantastic, and I even ordered some extra to bring home for my wife, who said she enjoyed it as well. In terms of comparisons to other Mexican restaurants, as far as food goes, the quality and enjoyment is comparably similar. You'll get just about the same quality from Montezuma's, or the more locally known El Mariachi here in Shippensburg. The service was fine except for the fact that my friend and I kept getting the impression we were annoying our waiter, who seemed like he was tired of getting any requests from us even though we only asked about two questions, the latter of which was me asking if I could order something extra to take home. In either case we tipped him well, and maybe he was just tired in general. Being on your feet for 10 hours is no fun no matter where you work.
The main difference between this place and the two previously mentioned Mexican restaurants is the atmosphere. It didn't feel like a Mexican restaurant, but more like a fuddruckers, or Red Robin. There's nothing exactly wrong with those restaurants, and of course atmosphere only plays a little part in the dining experience, but I felt it was worth mentioning. Overall I give the place a 7 out of 10 and we'll be returning gladly. I recommend the place to anyone looking for Mexican food who is not closer to one of the either two mentioned before, as they all have just about the same quality. Expect to be paying at least $12 for a meal. This price is common in the area, so...
Read moreMy wife had the steak fajitas. She said they were seasoned perfectly and came out sizzling on the iron skillet cooked to perfection. I had the molcajeta maya, oh boy, these were of the chain! First of all I've never eaten cactus quite like this. It has cactus, chorizo, beef, chicken and shrimp in a stone bowl. I'm leaving a picture of it. It is impossible to eat out of the bowl; so, all for an empty plate to use. If you're not accustom to heat, I'm not usually a fan of spicy hot dishes, 🌶 to let you know this one is spicy. Like Caribbean jerk at BWW hot. Even though it was above my comfort zone of heat I ate almost the whole plate of food. There is a lot; so bring your appetite. It was delicious I highly recommend this dish. Don't let the heat scare you away. It is worth it. If you like spicy food it probably will be mild to you...lol. The service was good. They were very nice just not always available; but very nice. The place was clean. At least until I got there. Oops. I tried to eat the dish from the stone bowl... that didn't work for me. Anyway, great food two thumbs 👍 👍 up!...
Read moreWe were really looking forward to eating here, but were extremely disappointed! The decor of the restaurant was beautiful and the service was fine. (The servers could have been friendlier and smiled more, but they were quite busy.) What was disappointing was the quality of the food. We ordered “steak” fajitas and the meat (although described as a good cut) was awful! Flavor was great, but the meat was all gristle! The rice and beans were just “ok”, but nothing special. We had chips and salsa and an appetizer (french fries with toppings) and both were quite tasty. We decided to take the Fajitas home for later, but ended up throwing them away because of the chewy, gristly meat😢. What a waste of money!! 😣All in all we were soooo very disappointed and will not return. We suggest that the owner may need to taste what they are serving to customers, and/or hire a new...
