Our visit to Sherpa Café was an incredible culinary adventure that brought the flavors of the Himalayas right to our table. Each dish was crafted with care, offering a perfect blend of authenticity and comfort.
We started with the garlic naan, which was fluffy, warm, and infused with just the right amount of garlic. It was the ideal accompaniment to the rest of our meal. The dahl soup was a standout starter—rich, hearty, and bursting with the earthy flavors of perfectly spiced lentils.
The chicken chana masala was an absolute delight. The tender chicken and hearty chickpeas were simmered in a robust, spiced tomato-based sauce that struck a perfect balance between savory and tangy. This dish alone is reason enough to return!
We also indulged in the chicken masala and shrimp masala, both of which were exceptional. The chicken was cooked to perfection and coated in a flavorful, aromatic gravy, while the shrimp was tender and perfectly complemented by its slightly spicy, creamy sauce.
The service at Sherpa Café was warm and attentive, making us feel truly welcomed. The cozy, inviting ambiance, complete with Himalayan-inspired decor, added to the charm of the experience.

Read moreGot into Crested Butte Sunday evening and set out for dinner after a long day of travel. Turns out there's not a ton open on Sundays in CB, but Sherpa Cafe was there for us and they did a great job!
You can sit indoors or outdoors; the inside is snug and cozy with not a ton of seating. The single-person bathroom was clean and tidy. We were happy to hang out outside and people watch.
Service was very polite and sweet and got our orders out quickly and efficiently.
We shared orders of samosas, garlic naan, chicken tikka masala, and chicken momo.
The samosas were light and crispy, not greasy at all, and came with a lightly spicy dipping sauce that we all liked. The chicken tikka masala was super creamy, maybe a little on the sweet side compared to other versions I've had, but still delicious with the perfectly aromatic basmati rice. Weirdly enough, the garlic naan was the weak link -- it wasn't buttery / crispy enough for me. Still enjoyed it, but I've had better. Lastly, the chicken momo were tender, flavorful, and numerous. We don't have anywhere to get momo in our home town so they are always a huge treat!
Thanks to Sherpa Cafe for such a pleasant first...
Read moreI was so excited to try this place, but unfortunately it did not deliver. The one thing they did well was the atmosphere. It's a really cute little restaurant. But, other than that, it was very underwhelming. The food smelled delicious but was quite under-seasoned and lacking flavor. The chicken in my meal was tough and definitely overcooked. The sauces were kind of like eating thick, colored milk. No flavor other than cream. Where's the spice?! The samosa appetizer was the best thing we got, but even that could've been better; they were extremely greasy, and the pastry was undercooked.
The service was a weird combination of rushed and very slow. They sat us immediately but then seemed to forget about us. Throughout the experience they basically ignored us other than frantically taking our order and bringing the food out (almost too) quickly. We had to flag an employee down to ask for everything else; more water, the check,...
