I was commissioned to make the Denver Selfie an art exhibit, and after taking over a week to send me the funds to even get started after I told them how much it was going to cost; I told them that since it took them so long to give me the funds to purchase the materials that the Valentine’s Day themed mural wasn’t probably gonna be done in time for Valentine’s Day. After being told that that was fine in the mirror would stay up all year, so it didn’t matter I was badgered about getting my mural done for Valentine’s Day multiple times. The day before the big day while still waiting on supplies it became apparent to me that they no longer wanted me to do the artwork nor pay me for the time I had already put it in as promised. I was gaslite about how much I was going to be paid until I was given the rest of my money as promised and my exhibit was officially canceled. The owners of this establishment do not respect the artists that they worked nor their their time and multiple times tried to gaslight me into not getting paid for my services at all, since they were fronting the cost of the materials though they promised to do both. DO NOT work with these individuals and if you do get everything in writing as I was very afraid that I wasn’t going to get paid for any of my work up until the moment the money was in my bank account. One of the worst experiences Ive had...
Read moreHad an absolute bawl with my besties for my birthday at the Denver Selfie Museum! Its located right downtown near 16th street Mall, in the middle of downtown Denver action!
The pink room, smiley face, and the neon (blue/red) room were among our favorites, and where we got some of the best photos of all of us.
If you are a photographer looking to take photos with your camera, I would suggest bringing a powerzoom flash or something of the like, and maybe some battery powered LED sticks for additional lighting. I was afraid to bring mine at first because I wasn’t sure they’d be allowed and didn’t want to carry them around downtown; however, at the end we asked the staff if we could bring them next time and they said its cool! They do have some lighting there, mostly ring lights and some overhead. I couldn't help but wonder how much flash/additional lighting could've improved some of the shots.
If you are a model, each room is a very different vibe so you may want to bring accessories to switch up a photo or you may find that your outfit/aesthetic fits with a few settings better than others. There is a bathroom on site where you can touch yourself up.
Would definitely love to come back sometime, price was very reasonable and well worth the fun experience! Thanks...
