We have been coming to The Osprey for years and have probably stayed here 5 or 6 times for a week at a time with our four children and often had other couple join us at the hotel. We have always appreciated the ski-in, ski out access and the mountain casualness. The facilities are still nice, the staff is still nice and the rooms are extremely well cleaned. However, this will be our last visit sadly.||The amount of marijuana use at the hotel that the hotel staff turns a blind eye to is of epic proportions and is painful in our room and childrens rooms at night. Supposdely this is a non-smoking property, so I confirmed with management that marijuana smoking is not allowed. We have alerted the night manager Sam and general manager but they always say they can't tell where the smell/smoke is coming from but they will have the housekeeping staff look into it but nothing happens - we've been here six nights so far. How hard is it to have housekeeping notify management when they find marijuana butts in the garbabe cans? Seriously. At night, we now regularly stuff towels under the connecting doors to the adjacent rooms and the door to the hallway to keep out the smoke/smell as best we can from our kids and from us to keep from getting headaches.||The leve of service which we used to appreciate at the Osprey pre-Covid has deteriorated sharply. Dinner closes at 6 and has been reduced to sandwiches so we have to hunt for a place to eat every night. They used to have much more substantial dinner food available much later into the night. Breakfast is now a pretty good cold buffett, but no hot items like egss before. Today (1/3/24) they ran out of peanut butter, pastries, hot chocolate and hot water. How do you run out of hot water? Not kidding...the kids weren't able to make hot chocolate. ||Beaver Creek in general is suffering a general manpower shortage it seems such that restraunts everywhere are understaffed, tables aren't bussed, there is a shortage of cooks so that meals take longer and at many restraunts in Beaver Creek, it just seems like the staff is overwhelmed and doesn't really care because they have a captive audience, a shortage of restraunts and can charge ridiculous prices even for a ski vacation because there are no other options. We have an option - and it's to never come back to Beaver Creek. But we still have a lot of wonderful memories from years gone by. Hopefully someone will take charge and restore this fallen angel to its former glory but it is going to take a while. Choose a different hotel and a...
Read moreIf you've ever wanted a true ski-in/ski-out experience, then you need to stay here. They're not lying when they say it's the closest chairlift in North America. After picking up our skis and boots from the attendant, it was maybe, at most, a 20 second walk to the Strawberry lift. If you opened up your room window by the lift, you could hear the chatter of the skiers in line. ||We just booked our stay for this upcoming winter with them, and gladly paid more than some of the local hotels in that area because of the experience we had in February 2023. From the staff to the experience, everything was phenomenal. The breakfast each morning was amazing, and many options, so everyone had a choice of what they'd like. We had the larger room, I think they call it a deluxe, and it was a wonderful size, but possibly too big for us as we kept our skis with the attendant. The bed and accommodations were great, and if you prefer a little more room, go that route. ||The walk to Beaver Creek village was fine, and I think it took us about 2-3 minutes to get to the heart of the village, where there are more shops and restaurants over there. After going off site the first night, we realized there were plenty of options in the village, so we stayed in the village for the rest of our trip. ||The fact they have a ski valet and parking valet is a wonderful touch. It was so nice to come in from a day on the slopes and leave our stuff in their room with the valet. There he would clean our skis and dry our boots, and it was a wonderful touch, and we tipped generously for this service. ||Again, we pay more just to stay here, but it's so worth it. By the time I pay for another hotel and load up everyone to drive to the resort, and pay for parking, we happy to sacrifice some other things in order to stay here. And if you search early enough, you'll find pretty decent rates for the upcoming year, and if you're an Epic member, you'll get a discount for staying here. All in all, five stars and we look forward to our trip out...
