Definitely not returning to this place. I was super excited and looking forward to our one week stay because of my prior wonderful experiences with other Hyatt resorts. Upon arrival, we were told that we came during off season and there's pretty much nothing to do in the hotel or the area. Prior to making my reservation with II, I called and was advised by Eric that there's so much to do, and I felt totally misled when it turned out it was off season and everything was closed. No one including the manager Derek volunteered any info about interesting things that will be appealing outside of the immediate area. I researched on the computer and found out about Glenwood springs and other tourist attractions in the area. I asked Derek about these and he said visitors enjoy visiting those places and he handed me some literature. And, I wonder why he or his staff didn't go the extra mile to voluntarily acquaint us as visitors with these sites and not just settle at telling us we came at off season. Prior to arriving, I had called and requested a quiet area of the hotel because I have a child that has autism and it's extremely difficult for him to sleep with noise. Upon arrival, I also verified this request and was told we have a great room in a great location. Sleeping was a huge challenge because these people had us in the part of the hotel by the road and the car noise was totally unbearable. We concluded that these people are the most callous and inconsiderate individuals we've encountered at Hyatt. When we arrived, we noticed that dishes in drawers are covered with food spots which I brought to the attention of the manager Derek. Although he asked if we need the dishes cleaned, it was ingrained in our minds that this place obviously do not take sanitation seriously. I couldn't understand how someone can organize dirty dishes in drawer without full inspection. The cleaning crew cleaned our room once during our one week stay. What is mind boggling is they didn't take the time to replenish basic things like dish sponge, shampoo, paper towel etc. I called and someone brought these to us but not replenishing supplies shows the lackadaisical way we were treated. One night, we got back to the hotel and found a live bird flying around in the living area. We ran into the rooms and called for help. I spoke with the manager who told me it would take him about 15 minutes to get there but said, if we can open the door, he'll have someone come by in 2 minutes. Meanwhile, he found it funny and was laughing that we were running from the bird. It took almost 2 hours for someone to come by and remove the bird. The disappointing thing is that this manager or his employees never bothered to follow up with us and check to make sure everything was taken care of. What I found insulting is that Eric asked me 3 days after we had already left Avon if someone came by to help with the bird. And, of course, it's not like he proactively called but I had called to check on charges made to my credit card. It turned out that the hotel charged me for making a long distance call. This call occured only because I had called about the bird and learned it was an answering service company in Washington. But, for them to charge me for the call was just another added insult to injury. And the fact that I had to pay $27.50 a night for resort fee inspite of all the inconvenience and lack of care that was demonstrated, is upsetting. If I can rate this place zero star, I certainly will because the level of service in this Hyatt location is completely lackluster and seriously in need of...
Read moreWe just returned home from a family reunion at the Hyatt Mountain Lodge. If you are going during off- season be prepared to be treated like you simply do not matter. Cannot run fireplaces. No grilling due to bears (what???) however many other places close by offer this amenity. We requested to reserve the nice media room for a family movie one evening and was told "impossible" due to the Board decision to only have it on a first come and first serve basis and while front desk is being manned. In off- season check in is still at 4 pm and staff leaves at 5pm so good luck on getting checked in and watching any movie after 5 pm during your off-season stay. We even had to let one of the Board members in the parking garage after hours as no one answered the front desk telephone to aid her with check in. She said she would help us with our issues and we never heard back from her, or Corporate Hyatt that we contacted after attempting to discuss our concerns with Nedra the manager. Nedra acted very unprofessional and told me it was my responsibility to find out all details about the resort before booking. I only called three times prior to our stay and asked if all ammenities were operable and guess I made a silly assumption that we could actually use the media room with our room key. What was I thinking??? Upon checkin Eric at the front desk greeted us by saying" I feel like I already know you as we have talked so much." I would suggest not wasting your time with this place , at least during off- season. It is ran "by the Board members" and that is all they quote you when you request anything. Rooms are nice finishes but living area is small and kitchens super small. They claim to recycle however we witnessed at least twice where they dumped regular trash and recycled items in the same trash bag. Just not impressed with this resort at any level. Upscale location....yes. Upscale management...a big negative !!!! Let's just say we will not be returning to this resort as after a week later we still have not had a returned telephone call...
Read moreBE WARNED - This property is under a LOT of construction. Although it states it on the website (when you scroll down a bit) - it should be in bold and or highlighted. I did not notice it until I was there.||We stayed here one week, and the property is very nice, the rooms are clean and cozy - but we woke up to loud moving trucks, noise and constructions just about every morning around 7am. (It is June, and since there is no AC - we had to keep our windows open since it is a bit warm during the day and cool at night.) Every day a construction truck parked in one of the entry ways to the garage and did not move all day. (Our room was above the garage)||We also had something moving around in our dryer hose. After calling several times and speaking with a manager, they finally got someone to come and removed it the same day. It was actually a bird! I am glad we did not run the dryer, or the little fellow would have been cooked. ||After speaking with the Manager, we were given some points back - but it did not make up for ruining our vacation. We could never sleep late and the only time we were relaxed was when we were away from the property or when the construction was over in the late afternoon. ||Shout out to Jackie (Concierge) who was great and tried to accommodate. We could not do some things previously planned due to the moose migration, so she told us about Glenwood Springs (Hot Springs and Adventure Park) We loved the Hot Springs and soaked for five hours in different minerals. That was the most relaxed we were during our time there. The Adventure Park was great also! ||If you are okay with waking up to construction sounds and smells, then take a chance. If you are looking for a place of solace and to relax, find another location until all the...
