Let me start with the positive. Our waiter, named Shane, was excellent. He was friendly, knowledgeable and just the right amount of attentive. The food was equally good. I had the Manilla Clams as a starter and the shrimp tagine for the entrée. I was surprised this high up in the mountains to find fresh tasting seafood. Everything else was equally fresh, flavorful and rich. Though the portions were not large, they were filling. You knew the head chef took personal pride in his cooking, because he came out himself to ask how our meals were. The prices were a little high, but it's what I've come to expect in this area. Then why a 3 star review? Unfortunately, the evening was soured at the start by the manager (assume she was the manager and not just the hostess as she spent a lot of time talking to the head chef). We arrived early while people were still on the slopes; the place was practically empty. Yet, because we hadn't made a reservation she gave us a hard time about seating us (this seemed to be a trend at every restaurant up here). Because I made a snarky remark about the place being empty, she acquiesced and seated us. However, she seated us while making a retort about reservations coming in and also gave us a table right in front of the front door. Keep in mind, it's negative 15 degrees celcius out and we are blasted by cold air every time a customer enters. Fortunately, this doesn't happen too often. After at total 90 minute dining experience, the restaurant is barely two-thirds full. So much for so many reservations coming in. Doesn't management know better to stagger the patrons as to not overwhelm the cooking staff? Doesn't she know dining out is an experience and the appreciation of the quality of the meal starts the minute a patron steps into the...
Read moreMy wife and I were celebrating our 31st anniversary in Beaver Creek and were looking for a good restaurant that we could have our dog with us. Talked with Jason at the front and he was able to accommodate us immediately with a great table on their patio. He did t just seat us he asked us how our day was and where we were from. Let him know it was our anniversary and he and the staff took it from there. Lexi’s was our server, and she was fantastic. She was attentive and very friendly. She is super knowledgeable on their menu and made great recommendations. My wife and ordered the salmon and the halibut. While waiting for our dinner, they provided a couple of nice bread options with the best salted butter. My wife has a gluten intolerance and Lexi was quick to get her a plate of warmed up gluten free bread with no up charge. We had a couple of wonderful drinks and Lexi and Jason brought out two glasses of champagne to toast our anniversary. What a nice and caring touch. The fish came out cooked perfect. I will say I liked the halibut a bit more than the salmon. It was buttery with a crispy outside, so delicious. We were not planning dessert but Lexi surprised us with a Nutella crème brûlée which was to die for. Thank you Lexi and Jason for making our dinner so special. We really...
Read moreWe recently visited Beaver Creek. After a few bike runs, we decided to stop for lunch. All the restaurants around were packed, so we stopped at this restaurant which was half full and where we could be seated right away. We were greeted by a waitress who appeared to be less than thrilled to be there. Her half-hearted smile and disinterested demeanor made us wonder if she was having a bad day or if she simply didn't enjoy her job.
Despite her lack of enthusiasm, we tried to remain positive and proceeded to order. When our food finally arrived, it looked delicious, but the joy of the moment was dampened by the waitress's lack of attentiveness. She barely checked on us throughout the meal, and when we needed a refill on our drink, it took several attempts to flag her down.
During the meal, we found ourselves feeling increasingly uncomfortable and awkward. It was as if our presence was a nuisance to her. It was clear that she was not rude, but rather unhappy in her job, and it made the entire lunch experience less enjoyable. It served as a reminder of how important a positive and welcoming attitude is in the hospitality industry and how much it can impact a customer's overall perception of...
