Tonight was the first time that my wife and I have EVER been to this restaurant, and it will definitely be the last time we EVER go there. I ordered a sushi roll, and the vegetable tempura, which actually was good…my wife’s food however, was ATROCIOUS! My wife absolutely LOVES Yakisoba noodles with Chicken, and has literally ordered that same thing, at like a thousand other restaurants…but this garbage that they served her, was absolutely disgusting! My wife only took about 3 bites of this slop, and got so nauseous, she almost had to run to the bathroom to throw up. Considering that she physically could not eat this garbage, she asked our waitress, to please remove it from the bill, since SHE COULD NOT EAT IT…and this timid spineless little girl, had the audacity to come back after “talking to her mamager”, and tells my wife that her manager said that since my wife ordered it, “the best they can do, is 20% off”…which ONLY came to -$3. Are you effing kidding me?! So you’re telling me, that because we ordered something, at a restaurant that we have NEVER BEEN TO BEFORE, and something that has been delicious at almost every single other restaurant…that it is our fault, and “the best you can do, is 20%”?!? I am legitimately mind blown!! Even a fast food restaurant will give you a FULL REFUND if the food you order, is COMPLETELY INEDIBLE…but this “nice” Japanese restaurant can only give 20%??? Honestly, I have never been more appalled by the staff at a restaurant, and not only will I be doubling this review on yelp, Facebook, Instagram, and EVERYWHERE ELSE I CAN FIND…but I will also NEVER be visiting this JOKE of an establishment again. Please folks, do yourself a favor, and GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!! I recommend Takumi on W Shaw, because all of their food is INCREDIBLE, and their staff is TOP NOTCH. This alarmingly ridiculous experience, has made me a Takumi...
Read moreFirst and last time visit to Shobu restaurant. As like others the service is extremely poor. I placed an order with specific instructions for no chile whatsoever because my wife doesn't do well with spicy. There were two other tables and one of them arrived after us. Our food finally arrived after 30 minutes of wait time. My wife took a bite of the food she ordered and immediately said it was too spicy. I tried a piece and confirmed the order was wrong. I brought the mistake to the attention of our server who I asked to have it remade as we requested with NO chile. The server returned shortly after taking the mistake back to the kitchen to inform us that the order would be replaced but it would be made minus the pieces we ate. Lol I have been in the restaurant business for over 30 years and when my server made a mistake placing an order I would Definitely replace it with correct request NOT at a reduction of food because the guest ate some, but because it was our error. I understand if a guest would of eaten 70% percent of the food and than asked for a remake to possibly question the guests request. Today was clearly the servers error and it should of been corrected immediately. We will not be returning to this restaurant I hope they get it together before they end up having to close. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone in the Central Valley. Poor atmosphere, poor quality, poor portions, overpriced for what you receive. Don't ask for ice tea as they only serve Raspberry and if you ask for a fountain drink expect to pay $5 ridiculous. $3 is fair $5 is gouging your guest. Just a tip; fountain drinks cost pennies to pour so stop abusing your guest. Shame on you. Repect your guest as they are who keep you in business especially return visit. Which we...
Read moreDecided to try a new spot for dinner tonight and was entirely disappointed. My husband and I love ramen and since our favorite restaurant closed down, we decided to try Shobu. We walked in around 5:30pm and the whole restaurant was entirely empty. We were seated and then waited a full 5 minutes before our server came and took our drink orders. We ordered two waters and two beers. The beers came and the waters never did. We then waited another 10 minutes before our server came to take our orders. I got the chicken teriyaki with miso soup. My husband got the Mabo Ramen and Yellow Fin Nigiri. The soup and nigiri came out first. The miso soup was just fine, tho it did separate in a very weird way. The nigiri, however, we could smell before it even hit the table. Against our better judgment we tried it. It was foul. When we told the server he simply said “oh” and took it away. My teriyaki came out next. For the amount of food that was on my plate, i was shocked that it was an $18 meal. My husband’s food didn’t come out until 15minutes after my food has been served. We each only took about 3 bites of our food and decided to leave. We went up to pay and our server brought over a manager (which we had not asked for). The manager asked how everything was, we expressed our disappointment, he apologized and presented us with out $70 tab. We will most definitely, not...
